MeraSMS has been fortunate enough to work with inspiring people like Mohammed Shakir and Sallimullah, the two Rohingyan refugees from New Delhi who have recently petitioned the Supreme Court to challenge Central government's orders to deport the 40,000 Rohingyan refugees back to Myanmar.

The Rohingya, one of the most persecuted groups in South Asia, and their lack of valid nationality and the recent deportation orders from the Government have put the futures of these communities into uncertainties. In such trying times, we at MeraSMS are trying our best to connect Rohingyan leaders like Mohammed Shakir and Sallimullah to vital information and to humanitarian assistance using our SMS-Voice platform and needs-assessment data.

It's always amazing to meet people like Santosh, who despite all the challenges that prevail, prioritize educating their children over anything else. Santosh, a father of 4 and a resident of an urban slum in Indirapuram, runs his own furniture-making business and is one of the 60 individuals who signed-up for the MeraSMS service as we visited his family as a part of our field campaign.

Join us on a field campaign this Saturday!
We will be visiting Bhowapur Slum Community in Kaushambi, an urban slum where a large number of Wastepicker families reside, and provide the service of collecting and segregating urban waste from surrounding households. Families living in poverty, suffering exploitation on several fronts, yet providing a crucial service to the society.

The field campaign shall allow the attendees to meet the local residents and hear their stories.

We connect people such as Swati to basic medical care which can make an outsize difference to the health of mother and child.The messages include tailored pregnancy follow-ups, parenting and family planning tips, nutrition guides and clinic and immunization reminders. Moreover, MeraSMS connects the mothers to nearby quality free or low-cost healthcare programs (NGOs or Government).
