🔥 RDP or an Application Blocked? Don't Disable Windows Firewall!

Use netsh advfirewall to inspect firewall profiles, review rules, and safely troubleshoot blocked network traffic.

💻 Useful Commands:

netsh advfirewall show allprofiles → Check firewall status

netsh advfirewall firewall show rule name=all → View firewall rules

netsh advfirewall firewall show rule name=all | findstr 3389 → Search for RDP rules

Test-NetConnection -Port 3389 → Verify port connectivity

🔄 Troubleshooting Flow:
Check Firewall → Check Rules → Identify Required Port → Allow Only Required Traffic → Test Connection → Verify

💡 Pro Tip: Keep the firewall enabled and use least-privilege rules. Don't create broad “Allow Any” rules just to make a connection work.

🚦 ROUTE Command – Troubleshoot Windows Routing Problems Like a Pro!

Is your PC connected to the network but traffic isn't reaching the destination? The Windows ROUTE command helps you view and troubleshoot the system's IP routing table.

💻 Essential Commands:

route print → View IPv4 and IPv6 routing tables

route print -4 → View IPv4 routes

route print -6 → View IPv6 routes

route -4 get 8.8.8.8 → See the route Windows will use for a destination

route add → Add a static route

route change → Modify an existing route

route delete → Remove a route

🔍 Routing Troubleshooting Flow:

Network Problem
⬇️
ipconfig /all
⬇️
Check IP & Default Gateway
⬇️
route print
⬇️
Is the required route available?
➡️ No → Check/add the correct route
➡️ Yes → Test the gateway
⬇️
ping
⬇️
tracert
⬇️
Check DNS / Firewall / VLAN / Router / ISP
⬇️
✅ Verify Connectivity

💡 Pro Tip: Use route -4 get when you need to know exactly which gateway and interface Windows will use to reach a particular destination.

⚠️ Important: Adding or deleting routes can affect network connectivity. Verify the destination, gateway, interface, and metric before making routing changes.

🚦 **Network Traffic Going the Wrong Way? Check the ROUTE Command!**

The Windows **ROUTE** command helps you view and troubleshoot the routing table and understand how Windows sends traffic to a destination.

💻 **Useful Commands:**

* `route print` → View the routing table
* `route print -4` → View IPv4 routes
* `route -4 get 8.8.8.8` → Find the exact route Windows will use
* `route add` → Add a static route
* `route delete` → Remove a route

🔍 **Quick Troubleshooting:**
**Check IP → Check Routing Table → Verify Route → Test Gateway → Run TRACERT → Check DNS/Firewall/VLAN**

💡 **Pro Tip:** Even when `ping` works, incorrect routing can still prevent applications from reaching their destination.

💻 BIOS vs UEFI — What’s the Difference?

Still using Legacy BIOS? It’s time to understand UEFI! 🚀

🔹 BIOS – Legacy firmware, MBR-based, limited disk support and basic security.
🔹 UEFI – Modern firmware with GPT support, faster boot, Secure Boot, better hardware compatibility, and advanced features.

📌 For modern systems: UEFI + GPT is generally the recommended configuration.
