Stop running Opus on everything.
Use the Advisor-Executor pattern Anthropic
itself recommends - it's a cheat code: →
Opus plans the task (the brain)→ Sonnet
handles complex ex*****on (the muscle )
→ Haiku knocks out simple stuff (the runner
Anthropic's own benchmarks: ~12% cheaper
with better accuracy than pure Opus. Haiku +
Opus-as-advisor? Up to 85% cheaper than
pure Sonnet. I've been running it for weeks
my weekly token cap stopped being a
problem.
How to use it in Claude Code:
→ Drop a rule in CLAUDE.md: "Plan as Opus
advisor. Execute complex tasks with Sonnet.
Simple tasks with Haiku." → Or just type /
advisor mid-session → Or save it in Claude's
memory as a hard rule - set once, forget
forever
