The Tekken franchise is ranked by year of release (counting from the Arcade or console version):
Mainline Series
Tekken (1994) – The first game introduced the Mishima family feud and the King of Iron Fist tournament.
Tekken 2 (1995) – Featuring Kazuya Mishima as the final boss and the tournament's organizer.
Tekken 3 (1997) – One of the most successful games on the PlayStation 1, it introduced iconic characters like Jin Kazama, Hwoarang, and Ling Xiaoyu.
Tekken 4 (2001) – Featuring significant gameplay changes with arenas featuring walls and varying floor heights.
Tekken 5 (2004) – Returned to the classic dynamic formula and introduced a character customization system.
Tekken 6 (2007) – The first game in the series to be released multi-platform (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) and introduced the Rage System mechanic.
Tekken 7 (2015) – Runs on Unreal Engine 4 and is one of the best-selling Tekken games thanks to its competitive scene.
Tekken 8 (2024) – The latest installment in the series, running on Unreal Engine 5, introduces an aggressive fighting system called the Heat System.
