We are conducting four workshops (𝟭𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝟭𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at Alliance Francaise de Delhi - 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆) to help “𝘿𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝙃𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙢 𝙎𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙨” to extract the musical glue which has allowed these songs to contribute to our sense of being Indian across decades have been conceptualised by Neville Tuli to forward his India Studies vision.
Through the beautiful harmony of music, lyrics, playback, choreography, the director’s visualisation, and the legacy years post the film’s release as the songs abide, through streets and gullys, radios and television, memory and thoughts, creating romance within us, while equally allowing us to bear the pain and struggle of daily life with joy.
We begin with 16 timeless songs by master directors – 𝙍𝙖𝙟 𝙆𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙤𝙧, 𝙂𝙪𝙧𝙪 𝘿𝙪𝙩𝙩, 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙙, 𝙑. 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘽.𝙍. 𝘾𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙧𝙖.
A range of expert discussants- 𝙈𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙣 𝙂𝙤𝙥𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙝, 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙠𝙝𝙖 𝙅𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣, 𝙆𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙙, 𝙍𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙠𝙖𝙣𝙩, 𝘼𝙢𝙞𝙩 𝙆𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙖, 𝙋𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙣 𝙅𝙝𝙖, 𝘼𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙡, 𝙅𝙪𝙝𝙞 𝙎𝙖𝙠𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙞 & 𝙉𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚 𝙏𝙪𝙡𝙞 - have been brought together to clarify different facets of each song in order to work out the first drafts of a pedagogic framework which will help us deepen and enliven the aesthetic and intellectual framework of India Studies in many ways.
Shortly, all content will be available on 𝙩𝙪𝙡𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙚.𝙤𝙧𝙜 and on our YouTube Channel @𝙏𝙪𝙡𝙞𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙚 as we move towards the creation of Learning Modules Open For All.

The Tuli Research Centre for India Studies presents a curated series of engagements within its India Studies research framework, as part of the ongoing 7th Self-Discovery via Rediscovering India Festival.
The programme opens with a brief exploration into Dibakar’s cinematic journey, followed by There Are No Lines to Be Drawn a critical conversation on the philosophy and practice of rights, freedoms, and the conditions of creative expression. The conversation reflects on dissent, authorship, and responsibility within the public sphere.
The evening continues with the screening of L*D 2, directed by Dibakar Banerjee an uncompromising cinematic work that interrogates intimacy, surveillance, and deception in contemporary India through a radical narrative form and visual language.

As part of events before Tuli’s anticipated publication on India Studies, this lecture draws on 3 decades of experience as a leading personality in Indian art and culture, his primary research & path-breaking archival documentation, offers a deep understanding of the Indian Modern and Contemporary Art market.
The session on 9th February 2026 examines the Indian art market as a structured aesthetic, economic, cultural, legal, and institutional system situated within national and international histories to help create a credible academic curriculum.
With the vast knowledge base being publicly opened on Indian modern art on 𝙩𝙪𝙡𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙚.𝙤𝙧𝙜, India will stand at the threshold of a great global advantage in its free and transparent access to nearly 50 years of verified, cross-referenced, fully cited market data and insight which no other country has ever had the chance to avail.
The other core subject Tuli will lecture on will be 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙃𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙤𝙢𝙗𝙖𝙮 𝘾𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙖, a vast world to be re-examined academically.
The limited seated Event is first reserved for invited academic faculty members, PhD students, and seats will also be available to the interested general public.
The Image of Raja Ravi Varma’s The Begum’s Bath (Oil on canvas, ca.1892-3) which was sold in November 1997 by HEART (Tuli Foundation for Holistic Art & Education) for INR 3,200,000 (32 lakhs) became India’s most expensive painting in the world. Saffronart will hopefully sell Ravi Varma’s “Yashoda and Krishna” painting for more than INR 100 Crores in April 2026. The Indian Art Market is clearly moving into its first financial phase of mature stability.
