A Chinese appliance maker has unveiled a six-armed “super humanoid” robot designed for factory work.
The robot, called MIRO U, was developed by Midea Group and revealed at the Greater Bay Area New Economy Forum. It keeps a humanoid head and torso so it can work at the same height as human workers.
MIRO U has six bionic arms that can perform three tasks at the same time. The lower arms handle heavy lifting, while the upper arms focus on precise assembly. Its tools can be swapped in seconds.
The robot moves on a wheeled base, can lift vertically, and rotate 360 degrees in place, allowing it to switch between workstations without moving other machines.
Midea plans to test MIRO U at its high-end washing machine factory in Wuxi, China, by the end of 2025. The company expects it to improve production line efficiency by about 30 percent.
