==== 2 Indian Cities Among World's 7 Worst Cities For Business Travel ====

BANGALORE: Stuck in traffic, meeting delayed, over board with frustration? This is the most common scenario with the commuters or business travellers in any overcrowded city in the world. Traffic jams are not just bad for people's nerves but strain one’s fuel and money. It is ironical that we have reached Moon but are still struggling with traffic issues.

Many cities in the world are facing the traffic ingestion problems but are still helpless to cope-up with such challenges. And if you are eager to note here is the list of 7 worst cities in the world for business travelling as compiled by Rediff.com.

1. Mumbai, India

Mumbai, the financial capital of India is one of the richest and the most overcrowdedcities in India. Though, the city has taken a big leap in commercialization but has also resulted into a massive population of more than 12 million.

People here have lived with this notion of Mumbai being the most populated city in the country. It is almost impossible to neglect the crowded trains, even though Government is continuously spending on expressways and metro trains to ease traffic snarls.

It is advisable if you are going for a business trip in this city, search for a hotel place that is nearer to your meeting destination.

2. Delhi, India

Delhi, the heart and the capital of India is one of the worst cities to live in as the city lacks proper infrastructure, overcrowded giving you a claustrophobic feeling.

One of the basic reasons why the city is chaotic in terms of traffic is that most of the families have more than one car and other vehicles. According to IBM's first global Commuter Pain study, 40 percent of the people in New Delhi would work more, increasing productivity and efficiency.

3. Moscow, Russia
4. Manchester, UK
5. London, England
6. Warsaw, Poland
7. Johannesburg, South Africa

----- India Launches E-Visa Facility For 43 Nations -----

NEW DELHI: In a move which will give a major boost to the tourism sector, the Government launched the much-awaited electronic visa facility for visitors from 43 countries including U.S., Germany and Israel.

"We want to promote tourism in the country in a big way. The contribution of tourism in the GDP is approximately 7 per cent and we want to double it up," Home Minister Rajnath Singh said here after launching the e-visa facility.

Now, a visitor from these countries will just have to apply for an e-visa on the designated website and pay the fee online to get an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) within 72 hours.

Russia, Ukraine, Brazil, UAE, Jordan, Kenya, Fiji, Finland, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Mauritius, Mexico, Norway, Oman and Philippines are among the countries which have got the e-visa facility in the first phase.

"Currently we have included 43 countries in the first phase. Barring those who are 'high-risk' countries, we will extend this facility to almost every country in the world phase-wise," Singh said.

E-visa will be valid for 30 days and a tourist can avail the facility twice a year.

He said earlier the visa-on-arrival facility was available for a few countries.

"But this manual system was causing delay so now we have introduced the IT-based system for faster result," he said.

Congratulating all those involved in the launching of e-visa system, Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma said, "This is a historic day for tourism sector. The facility has opened the country to a vast world."

Raising the issue of safety of tourists, Sharma asked the Home Minister to provide fool-proof security to them.

In response to the Tourism Minister's concern, Singh assured safety and security for all tourists particularly foreigners who come to India.

"We are formulating a legal framework for this. We will ensure safety and security for all tourists," he said

With the launch, the e-visa facility has become operational at nine international airports - Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Goa. Redo Infotech Pvt. Ltd.

===Vehicles Older Than 15 Years Won't Be Allowed In Delhi, Says Green Court===

NEW DELHI: Dismayed at the increasing air pollution in the national capital, the National Green Tribunal or NGT held that all vehicles which were more than 15 years old would not be permitted to ply on the city roads.

A bench, headed by NGT chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar, also directed that wherever such old vehicles are spotted, the concerned authorities shall take appropriate steps in accordance with the law, including seizure of the vehicles.

"It is undisputed and in fact unquestionable that the air pollution of NCT, Delhi, is getting worse with each passing day. It not only projects the very dismayed state of affairs existing with clear indication that worst is likely to follow”

"All vehicles, diesel or petrol, which are more than 15 years old, shall not be permitted to ply on the roads. This direction would be applicable to all vehicles without exception i.e. two wheelers, three wheelers, four wheelers, light vehicles and heavy vehicles irrespective of whether commercial or otherwise," the bench said.

It further said that no person shall be permitted to burn plastic or any other material in the open.

"If any person is found to be burning plastic or any other material including tree leaves in the open, he would be liable to be proceeded against in accordance with law," it said.

The Tribunal also held that in all the markets in Delhi, "it shall be ensured tarred roads for regular traffic are not permitted to be used for parking thus causing avoidable congestion of traffic". Redo Infotech Pvt. Ltd.

---How To Block Spam Texts On Your Android And iOS Phone ---

We all hate spam SMS, it is annoying. Technology is so advanced that there are options to block these spam texts on your smartphone, reports PC world.

If you're using iPhone which is running on iOS 7, all you need to do is ,open the message, tap Contact, then tap the little "i" button that appears.

Next, you'll see a blank contact card for the spammer who sent you the message. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap "Block this caller." And it’s done.

If you want to view the blocked people, go to Settings, Messages, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the screen, and then tap Blocked. To remove someone from the list, swipe the number or address from right to left, then tap the red Unblock button.

For Android users, it is a little complicated as there are plenty of apps available on the Google Play store. If your phone hasn't been updated to Android "KitKat" yet, download sms blocking app which is free.

Once you are done uploading the app, go to Settings, "About phone," then check the number that's listed under "Android version." If the number is 4.3 or below, your phone isn't running on KitKat yet.

If you are using Android version 4.4 or above, then your device will need a new default messaging app that's capable of blocking SMS spam.

And there are plenty of third-party messaging apps on Google Play, such as EvolveSMS and SMS Blocker which automatically detects and blocks "suspected" SMS spam.

Another option is Google's own Hangouts app which not only sends and receives standard SMS messages but lets you place spammers on a "blocked" list.

===Google, NASA Enter 60-Year Lease Agreement===

One small step for NASA and a large step for Google has been taken.

The two entities entered a 60-year lease agreement this week for the Moffett Federal Airfield (MFA) and its historic Hangar One. NASA has been renting space to Google at the airfield since 2007, but the newly inked deal means the Internet company will fork over $1.16 billion in rent for the next six decades.

The lease, explained NASA administrator Charles Bolden in a press release, will allow NASA to look more toward the stars rather than worrying about property on Earth.

“As NASA expands its presence in space, we are making strides to reduce our footprint here on Earth,” said Bolden. “We want to invest taxpayer resources in scientific discovery, technology development and space exploration – not in maintaining infrastructure we no longer need. Moffett Field plays an important role in the Bay Area and is poised to continue to do so through this lease arrangement.”
Hangar One, PC Mag reported, houses a number of privately-owned jets including those owned by Google executives Larry Page, Sergey Brin and Eric Schmidt. Google had been renting space there but NASA, last year, decided not to renew any agreements and, rather, placed it on the market asking for interested companies to bid on the property.

The lease is actually between NASA and Google’s subsidiary, Planetary Ventures.

The lease outlines a number of requirements including refurbishing and protecting Hangar One, rehabilitating two other hangars on the property and operating the airfield in accordance with the Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement for public and private use. http://tinyurl.com/mq2w6jf

====HTC Android Wear Watch Rendered by Hasan Kaymak in Fresh Version===

Hasan Kaymak has created one or two HTC watches before, but today he’s back with a HTC watch that uses Android Wear. This model brings some design lines we already knew, but also new material choices and a better look at its software.
Well, for one thing there’s no such thing as a real HTC Watch in real life, so we have to be happy with the concept here. We get a body design that feels like the Moto 360, with metal in the mix, a bezel free circular screen, with the glass very exposed. The belt is made of metal and the interface is circular and minimalistic. There’s a slight gap between the glass and metal body, leaving room for a slight screen edge.
We’ve got a crown button on the side, a physical one and a minimalistic UI for the music player and phone calling app. This is only part one of the experience that Hasan unveiled and we’ll be back with part two soon. In the video below you can see on screen notifications, a rotating dialer that feels old school and more goodies.

Google, Facebook In Race For A Slice Of Digital Pie For Modi's Smart-Cities Plan

It looks like Modi’s dream project to build 100 smart cities is getting quite recognition at the international level, as global tech giants like HP, Google, Facebook and Microsoft are betting big for a slice of the digital pie, reports firstbiz.

In a boost to India's 100 smart city programme, Modi has also initiated steps for a "Digital India," with allocations for components such as smart cities, virtual classrooms, and technology startups. Also a budget of $1.2 billion was completely set aside for cities alone.

In terms of who’s providing what, Google is willing to provide inexpensive internet access across India through a network of helium-filled baloons, while Facebook too is keen on being a partner in the National Optical Fiber Network programme. This programme also aims to connect 2.5 lakh village panchayats through high-speed broadband by 2017.

Another tech giant Microsoft too wants to join the bandwagon as it plans to contribute by using “white space” unused spectrum between two TV channels, in order to provide Internet connectivity in remote areas of India. White space is actually the frequencies allotted to a broadcasting service but is unused and is considered to have potential for providing wireless broadband Internet access in rural areas.

According to an Economic Times report, it is said that Microsoft has already submitted a proposal to the Wireless Planning & Coordination wing of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

Following this race, Cisco and IBM too have joined the bid and have gone on to submit proposals to local governments for projects and collaborate with real estate developers to build greenfield digital cities. This ET report says HP too is keen to invest in smart cities.
