Today I am sharing my PATHETIC experience of ZOMATO's new first time ever service- DELIVERING HOT FOOD from iconic brands of delhi within 1 hr. I came across this through a WhatsApp message from Zomato. This got me all excited as I could enjoy Ind vs Pak while binging on my favourite food without going out. I ordered Dal Makhni from Moti Mahal. Unfortunately, the excitement only lasted till I placed the order.
The riders’ location showed he was coming from Noida while Moti Mahal is located in Daryaganj. I was very confused if the food was actually coming from the original Moti Mahal in Delhi. The food came in about 1 hr and it was warm not Hot as marketed. The food was brought on a bike in a Jhola (Grocery Bag), unlike their claim of a temperature controlled environment.
The container did not have Moti Mahal’s usual taping, the tape was different. Dal looked reddish and full of oil unlike what you get at Moti Mahal. On tasting, it was very clear that the food was stale, it had gone bad. I have been a regular customer at Moti Mahal and I can vouch for their taste, freshness and quality. So, it seems like Zomato just re-branded the food from another outlet in Noida or if they did actually pick it up from Moti Mahal it would have definitely been picked a day before. Either way, as a customer I got stale food for a premium price.
Another highlight here is that the pamphlet that Zomato sent, clearly mentions that the food is reheated without tampering. I wonder how the food was reheated without opening the plastic container. Heating plastic is dangerous and may even cause cancer. This is absolutely unacceptable and a health hazard.
This is my personal experience and I hope other customers did not have such a terrible one! I think the food was bought earlier, stored and later reheated before delivering.
I am confused where the food actually came from. Bought Earlier & Stored? Made in a cloud kitchen??
I need an answer for this!! As customers, we have the right to seek an explanation for the food we are getting.
