MapmyIndia has launched CarPad, a 7-inch navigator packed with features such as in-car entertainment, 3G connectivity and 3D navigation. The device can be used anywhere in the car and is centered on the traveler on the go.

Mr. Rakesh Verma, MD, MapmyIndia said, “we are excited to launch CarPad which will revolutionize the way people travel in cars in India – because of the simple, ingenious way in which it offers navigation, entertainment, connectivity and productivity to everyone in the car."

He further added,"this strategic collaboration with Qualcomm for CarPad is the first, big step in our endeavor to converge cars, consumers and connectivity in India and introduce ground-breaking connected services inside the car.”

The CarPad is a device designed to make traveling smart, efficient and convenient. It has all the standard features of a tablet, molded to adhere to the needs of travelers. This device might be one of the world’s first specialized tablets.

It is equipped with voice guidelines that gives traveler from turn to turn a 3D view of buildings and terrains, house levels and travel guides on its 7-inch screen.

The CarPad is equipped with Aura, MapmyIndia’s own Navigation interface, which offers 3D maps and house numbers. This device hails from an Indian manufacturer which means it is India-centric. It also has pre-installed India map making it easy to navigate from place.

This device comes with a bundled car kit using which it can be mounted on both the windshield and the headrest. The device is quite portable and can be used both in the font or the back of a car and can also be carried along like a tablet.

The device is additionally equipped with inbuilt 3G capabilities and Bluetooth making it convenient to share information with other people.

Along with that, the device offers multiple options for in-car entertainment. It enables the user to not only listen to radio but is in fact pre-loaded with YouTube and Flickr.

MapmyIndia’s CarPad comes at a price of Rs. 22,990 inclusive of an 8-megapixel MicroSD card.
