🔄 Business Central SaaS — Environment Transfer Between Tenants

Here's a look back at a Business Central feature that can be useful when an environment needs to move from one Microsoft Entra tenant to another.

In this hands-on video, I demonstrate:

✅ Starting an environment transfer
✅ Selecting the environment
✅ Providing the destination tenant ID
✅ Checking environment quota
✅ Scheduling the transfer
✅ Accepting the transfer from the destination tenant
✅ Understanding the acceptance window
✅ Cancelling a pending transfer
✅ Checking users and job queues after the move
✅ Understanding integrations and post-transfer configuration

This can be useful in scenarios such as tenant consolidation, acquisitions, mergers, or moving a partner's demo environment into a customer's tenant.

The ModuleInfo type now gives AL developers access to more app manifest metadata — including Help, EULA, Privacy Statement, and Context Sensitive Help URLs.

Migrate Business Central Table Fields from Integer to BigInteger.

🚀 New in Business Central version 29 Preview
You can now migrate an existing table field from Integer to BigInteger without losing data. This is a game changer for extensions with high-volume tables like custom logs, entry tables, and document lines.

What changed:

✅ Integer → BigInteger field migration is supported
✅ SQL column upgrades automatically (int → bigint)
✅ Existing records are preserved
✅ Compiler warns about narrowing conversions
✅ AppSourceCop AS0141 warns dependent extensions

This applies when targeting runtime 18.0 (Fall 2026) or later.

🚀 New Business Central developer change!

ToolTip and ToolTipML can now be defined directly on page objects.

That means navigation actions targeting a page can inherit the page's tooltip when no tooltip is explicitly defined on the action.
A small change, but a useful improvement for keeping tooltip definitions cleaner and more reusable.

🖼️ Preview images directly in Business Central — no download required!

The Business Central web client now has a much better experience for viewing image attachments, including support for formats such as PNG, JPEG, SVG, WEBP, GIF, and AVIF.

There’s also support for animated GIFs in FactBox thumbnails and clickable image thumbnails that open the previewer. 🚀
