Its RAINING Smartphone Apps in India!!!

There are endless possibilities with mobile apps from social nertwork apps to games. IDC report shows that sales of smartphone was recorded as 34.2% quarter on quarter growth and 294.9% year on year growth.Other sources from 2010 recorded that the number of users visiting an App Store jumped to 108%.

Be it Nokia, iOS, Android or BlackBerry, Indian programmers are excited about the prospects of the sector. According to Indiagames CEO Vishal Gondal "With the rollout of 3G happening across the country, we see the market for apps going up 10 times from its present figure".
In India, Apps with local content is more preferred over other global Apps such as Cricket T20 and Cricket T20 world cup.
Since the smartphone market is still in its infancy and is still very fragmented, app-makers are forced to develop apps cross platform. Most companies like have developed tech solutions which allow for the porting of games across different mobile operating systems so as to maximise the revenue they can earn.
Few firms have taken the specialisation route and develop apps just for a single OS including iFingerTips. Our intention is to leverage the corporate enterprises to work on the move. It has become the walk of the day around the world.
One problem that app developers in India face is that they are not properly compensated when they publish their apps on the VAS portals of mobile operators. "In the App Store, Apple keeps 30% of the revenue and the developer gets the rest. But the situation is the opposite here. The service providers keep the majority while the developer gets only a small share. We hope this situation changes soon so that more developers start making mobile apps.

New Microsoft Ad For Windows Is For People Who Do

Bold statement to make, but if there’s one company that can make such a claim, it’s Microsoft. Redmond has just released a new ad for Windows, an inspiring new ad.

One that tries to highlight the productivity side of the world’s most popular operating system.

The commercial highlights what people can achieve when using Windows on an array of devices, from the good old PC to mobile tablets and everything in between. It shows how Windows is no longer an operating system, but a complete operating platform that can power all types of devices.

Large and small.

The ad is called “People Who Do”, and you can watch the 2 minute clip below:

The technology titan showcases the significance of Windows and how the platform combined with other services from the company like Office and OneDrive on so many different devices spikes up the productivity levels of users.

This is what the company says:

“There are people everywhere doing great things—from revitalizing a city to teaching tomorrow’s farmers. We build Windows for these people, because people who do move the world forward.”

Noble intentions.

Shades of how a certain Bill Gates wanted to bring a computer on every desk. Current Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is going in with a similar approach, though he is banking on mobile and cloud to help with this new goal.

As for Redmond, the company seems to be laying the groundwork for the Windows 10 marketing push with ads like the one above, and this commercial that was launched exactly a week back.

Google commences Lollipop rollout to Android One handsets in India

Google has announced that it is rolling out the Lollipop update to Android One handsets in India. The OTA update will be arriving in stages and will be delivered weekly, which means that not all users will receive the update at once.

All three Android One devices currently on sale in the country – Micromax's Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Dream Uno – will be getting the update shortly. According to Google's product management director Caesar Sengupta:

To those with +Android One phones in India, here's where we are with the over-the-air (OTA) update that will bring Android Lollipop to you soon. We've already started rolling out Lollipop to a small number of phones in India. This is a gradual process and so each week we'll push the OTA update to more phones selected at random (pro-tip: connecting over WiFi will increase your odds).

Sengupta did not make any reference to the Lollipop version that is being rolled out to the devices, but with Android 5.1 Lollipop surfacing on Android One devices in Indonesia last month, it is possible that the handsets in India will make the switch to Android 5.1 as well.

Android 5.1 Lollipop update UK release date

According to AndroidPit, Android 5.1 Lollipop will arrive at the end of February 2015, citing two trusted and completely separate sources.

The Lollipop 5.1 update has already hit some Android One phones in Indonesia, and Google's own Android One website earlier seemed to confirm this with the tagline "Introducing Android One. Fast and responsive smartphones running the latest version of Android, Lollipop 5.1," according to CNET. However, this has since been altered to read "Introducing Android One. Fast and responsive smartphones running the latest version of Android."

Android 5.1 Lollipop is expected to be a rather large update, returning the silent mode missing from Android 5.0, improving system stability, RAM management and battery management, and fixing sudden app closures, Wi-Fi problems and sound problems.

It's important to note the difference between Android 5.1 and the Android 5.0.1 update that rolled out to Nexus devices in December. (The Nexus 7 2012 and cellular versions of the Nexus 7 didn't get 5.0.1, but have recently received 5.0.2.) The 5.0.1 Lollipop update is a collection of bug fixes that we recommend installing.

Windows 10 release date, specs and pricing announced

Windows 10 download will be a free upgrade for existing users

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 users during the first year.
If you do not upgrade in the first year, you will be charged. There has been some confusion around pricing - but Microsoft is expected to charge a one-off license fee and NOT move to a subscription model.
Windows 10 will launch in late-2015. The Technical Preview will end on 15 April 2015.
Microsoft also debuted the 84in Microsoft Surface Hub and Windows Holographic. The latter will allow users to create 3D models via a custom-built HoloLens.
Microsoft confirmed Cortana and the Spartan web browser will be introduced across all Windows devices.
Microsoft's share price dropped by 1.55 per cent after the launch.
The Windows 10 Consumer Preview made its debut at Microsoft's launch event on Wednesday 21 January, where Redmond announced multiple hardware and software updates.
The company revealed that Windows 10 will be free for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users for the first year. During a Q&A after the presentation, executives declined to comment on the pricing structure after this time frame.
An 84in device - the Microsoft Surface Hub - was also revealed along with the rumoured "Spartan" web browser.
Windows-as-a-Service will allow developers to work across all Windows devices, as well as improving security.
In terms of appearance, the task bar appears streamlined on Windows 10, and the Start Menu can be made full screen with a touch. Settings has also reverted back to look like the traditional Control Panel of old.

The Charms Bar also has a new look, with users able to swipe from the right to find a notifications panel. Swiping down will close all apps - not just Metro.

When the keyboard is removed from a hybrid device, the user will be asked whether they want to enter tablet mode, after which apps switch to full screen.

Microsoft's "personal assistant" is coming to Windows PCs and will be accessible via a search panel in the task bar. As demonstrated at the launch event, the app has the ability to learn about the user. You then have the ability to edit this information with Cortana Notebook.
