True independence is technological sovereignty. 🇮🇳

Behind every signature on the e200X fuselage is an engineer, researcher, and builder who believed that the future of aviation doesn’t just belong on Indian soil, it must come from here.

From the labs at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras to rolling out a 2.2-ton electric aircraft at our own 60,000+ sq ft manufacturing facility, e200X represents half a decade of uncompromising engineering. We didn’t jump straight to a full-scale build; we earned this airframe across 10,000+ kilometers of subscale flight testing, securing India’s first Design Organisation Approval (DOA) from the DGCA for electric aircraft design in May 2023, followed by the official acceptance of our Type Certification application in December 2024.

What stands in our hangar today is pure indigenous grit:

* * A 2,200 kg airframe, molded entirely from carbon-fiber composite.

* Matured Ground testing, entering the final threshold inside our 60,000 sq ft facility before taking to the flight line.

We aren’t just watching the skies change; we’re building the wings that will take us there.

Happy 80th Independence Day from all of us at The ePlane Company! ⚡✈️

Whatever it takes!

Long before I understood lithium-ion chemistry, those three words were my philosophy. I was the kid obsessed with how energy was harnessed and controlled.

That passion led me to IIT-BHU for Electrical Engineering, but my journey began in traditional energy: as a Management Trainee at Coal India. While there, I realized my calling lay in the future of energy, not its past.

I left heavy industry for India’s early EV startup ecosystem architecting high-voltage BMS hardware and pushing thermal limits for 2-wheelers and cars.

Honestly, I hadn’t thought about building an electric plane. Until I met Prof. Satya Chakravarthy.

Five years ago, I joined The ePlane Company to lead the Batteries & Electrical team, and the playbook was completely rewritten.

Taking batteries off the ground is a different beast. In a car, if a system faces an anomaly, you pull over. In aerospace, failure is absolute zero. The stakes are profoundly real.

For five years, we’ve engineered a dense, ultra-safe aerial powertrain from a blank slate. We waged a relentless war against weight and heat. Every gram shaved off and every microsecond of latency eliminated dictates how safely we lift humans into the sky.

Today, that hardware is officially out in the open.
Watching our custom high-voltage architecture power up the full-scale e200X PT-01... that adrenaline surge is like nothing else. All the math in the background has finally become physical reality.

I’m incredibly proud of our electrical team who poured their lives into this machine, and deeply grateful to the partners who believed in this vision early on.

We didn’t just build a battery; we built the heart of India’s first electric flying taxi.

When you scroll through your feed and see our reveal video, you see a sleek, 2.2-ton aircraft standing inside our facility complete, seamless, and ready.

When I watch it, I see something completely different. I see the invisible sweat, the fierce technical debates, the aching backs, and the relentless grit of my team on the shop floor.

For over a decade, my career in aerospace manufacturing was established and comfortable building large composite structures and complicated airframe assemblies. But after years of following proven blueprints, I wanted to build a brand-new aircraft from scratch. That’s why I joined The ePlane Company.

In aerospace, paper will accept any design you draw on it. The shop floor is far less forgiving.

A 3D CAD model represents an ideal world. But when digital files hit the manufacturing bay, reality sets in. My team’s mission was bridging design and reality asking the hard questions: Can human hands actually lay this up? Can this tool fit inside the oven for curing? Can we assemble this without adding unnecessary weight? It took endless feedback loops to make every layer and joint manufacturable.

Building a full-scale aircraft from scratch brings immense pressure. But as a leader, I have one strict rule: I never show stress on the shop floor.

I made sure the pressure stayed with me, filtering out the noise so the floor could focus on building with precision. The second a leader projects anxiety, the team feels it and starts to rush and in aviation, rushing leads to mistakes. My job was acting as a shield, creating a calm, protected space for my 30-person team to focus purely on their craft.

When the final sub-assemblies came together and the e200X PT-01 stood on its own landing gear, I didn’t jump up and down. I felt a deep, quiet wave of relief. We had turned a concept into 2,200 kg of real hardware.

When you watch our reveal video today, you aren’t just looking at a machine. You’re looking at the hands, the grit, and the heart of our entire team.

To my team: this reveal belongs to you. Thank you for enduring the grind and bringing this machine to life.
We built it. Now, it belongs to the real world.

There is a definitive moment when an aerospace program shifts from subscale into a 2.2-ton full scale reality. For us, that moment is now.

This aircraft is the culmination of half a decade of uncompromising engineering. We didn’t just jump straight into a full-scale build. We spent the last five years proving our architecture in the sky. For those who have followed our journey, you saw us push our sub-scale technology demonstrators to the limit flying the ATVA in 2021 and the heavy-lift e50 in 2023.

Across those platforms, we logged over 10,000 kilometres of real-world flight testing. We proved the aerodynamics, we moulded our composites from scratch, and we locked in our proprietary flight transition algorithms in the real world.

What you are looking at today is the result of that heavy lifting: a 2,200 kg vehicle built around an advanced carbon fiber composite airframe. It runs on an 800V high-voltage EV powertrain engineered to prevent thermal overheating and enable rapid turnaround charging.
To process the immense data required for autonomous flight, we integrated the NVIDIA IGX Thor platform for hardware-isolated sensor fusion, alongside HENSOLDT’s Next-Gen avionics suite for micro-accuracy navigation and secure telemetry.

Right now, the e200X PT-01 is standing inside our 60,000 sq ft integrated manufacturing and testing facility at the IIT Madras Discovery Campus. It will now enter its full-scale structured ground testing phase in our dedicated GTV Hangar, which is the final threshold before we take it to the flight line for full flight validation.

We proved the architecture. Now we validate & scale it.

There’s never a dull moment at The ePlane Company. As we reveal the e200X PT-01 to the world, it’s the perfect time to look back at exactly what it took to get here.

Starting small to grow big. Here is how we built it.

The Blueprint (2019): We started with the hardest question: what is the largest market, and what tech do we need to serve it? That led to our Synergistic Lift IP, now patented in 33 countries.

Bootstrapped Beginnings: We built our Atva-1 subscale demonstrator. It has flown 10,000+ km, executing complex transitions and commercial pilots.

Global Stages (2022-2023): Displayed the e200 mock-up at the Dubai Expo, presented it to Hon. PM Narendra Modi Ji, and showcased at Aero India. Done and dusted.

Subscale Success: Started flying our 3/8th scale prototype in Jan 2023, clocking 500+ km to lock in the aerodynamics in the real world. Been there, done that.

The Approvals: Received our Design Organisation Approval (DOA) from the DGCA in 2023, followed by our AS9100D certification. We are on a clear, comparable certification pathway to EASA and FAA.

THE NOW: The first full-scale prototype of the e200X (PT-01) is here. Built from the ground up, it is now entering detailed ground testing.

What’s Next: Our eyes are already set on PT2 (our certification-conforming air ambulance variant) and PT4 (the air-taxi) rolling out through next year.

None of this happens without the absolute hard work of our experienced team which is exactly why we celebrate this with one of the largest employee ownerships around. This is what true deep tech entrepreneurship looks like. Building toward one of the world’s best eVTOLs on a globally competitive timeline feels surreal.

When you zoom in close enough, an aircraft is just a thousand small decisions made real.

What you see in these details is the actual, tangible work that happened on the hangar floor. We shaped the structures, aligned the metal, and locked down the geometry of the airframe. It took a steady hand to get the smallest elements right, knowing those details would eventually carry the weight of the entire machine today.
