"This is John D. Rockefeller, who was once the richest man in the world, the first billionaire. At 25, he controlled one of America's largest oil refineries. By 31, he became the world's largest oil producer. By 38, he refined 90% of America's oil. By 50, he was the country's richest man. As a young man, every decision, behavior, and relationship was geared towards accumulating wealth and power. But at 53, he fell ill. His entire body ached, and all his hair fell out. In extreme agony, the world's only billionaire could buy anything he wanted, but he could only digest soup and crackers. A companion wrote that he couldn't sleep, couldn't smile, and nothing in life had any meaning for him. His personal, highly skilled doctors predicted that he would die within a year. The year passed slowly in agony. When he was near death, he woke up one morning with a vague feeling that he couldn't take any of his wealth with him to the afterlife. The man who could control the business world realized he wasn't in control of his life. He had one option left. He called his lawyer, accountant, and managers and announced that he wanted to transfer his assets to hospitals, research, and charitable works. John D. Rockefeller established his foundation. This new direction ultimately led to the discovery of penicillin, the treatment of malaria, typhoid, and cholera. But perhaps the most astonishing part of Rockefeller's story is that from the moment he started giving back a portion of his earnings, his body chemistry changed so dramatically that he kept getting better. There was a time when it seemed he would die at 53, but he lived until he was 98. Giving charity made him healthy. It seems that this thing called charity is also a kind of treatment. Try it too. Before his death, he wrote in his diary, 'The Supreme Energy taught me that everything belongs to Him, and I am just a channel to fulfill His wishes.' My life was a long, pleasant journey; full of work and play. I left worries behind; now it's just me and my God. Every day was good for me.'"
This is a inspiring story of John D. Rockefeller, one of the richest men in history, who found health and happiness by giving back to charity. The story highlights the importance of generosity and the impact it can have on one's life.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) told his community 1,450 years ago that treating illnesses through charity is a good message for all of us! ЁЯТЮ (This is a hadith, or saying of the Prophet, encouraging people to give charity as a way of seeking healing and blessings.)
