Call for Papers
Quantum Machine Learning and Quantum Computing for Emerging Intelligent Systems
Deadline for submissions: Sunday, 30 June 2024
Publication: This will be a Virtual Collection. Accepted papers will be published without delay while the Collection remains open for submissions until the deadline.
The performance of the fundamental algorithms of computational intelligence has increased dramatically over the past few decades. However, this progress has been severely hampered by the technological constraints of modern computing devices. It is essential to be on the lookout for new computing technologies that do not rely on electrons or silicon transistors.
The advancement of quantum technologies has resulted in the creation of Noise Intermediate Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices, which are quantum computers with 50–100 qubits that can perform complex computations. This paradigm shift brought about by quantum computing has the potential to significantly benefit computational intelligence. Indeed, the principles of quantum mechanics, such as superposition, entanglement, and interference, can inspire new approaches to approximate reasoning, machine learning, and evolutionary computing. In addition, computational intelligence approaches can aid in the development of dependable quantum computers by facilitating the development of novel techniques for error mitigation, shrinking the size of quantum circuits, optimising their performance, etc.
This Virtual Collection aims to bring together academics and industry experts to shed light on the technical and scientific challenges within the emerging fields of quantum computing and artificial intelligence. It will also aim to demonstrate how quantum computing and artificial intelligence can complement one another for future research.
Topics of interest for this call for papers include but are not restricted to:
Communication via quantum computing;
Quantum computing for neural networks;
Evolutionary computation using quantum computing;
Computational intelligence for quantum sensing;
Computational intelligence for quantum error mitigation;
Artificial intelligence algorithms for quantum computer processors;
Computational intelligence for quantum security;
Quantum computing for health.
