If your hiring strategy starts with job ads, you’re already late... Because the best candidates aren’t applying.

They’re busy. Employed. Not even thinking about your opening.

That’s the uncomfortable truth most TA teams know but few systems are built for.

In this conversation, Divya Chethan and I unpacked a simple shift: most platforms are designed for active talent. Real hiring advantage lives in passive talent.

At CBREX, every candidate on the platform is passive - reached through specialists who already know how to engage them. No inbound flood. No résumé chaos. Just signal.

That one design choice changes the entire funnel:
• Less noise at the top
• Faster shortlists
• Far less recruiter and hiring-manager fatigue

We’ve already done the heavy lifting, be it vendor empanelment, KYCs, performance history or overall curation so teams don’t lose months before hiring even starts.

Result: relevant profiles in less than 24 hours, not weeks.

🎥 Short clip from our podcast, Swipe Right for Talent below.

If your best hires rarely come from job ads, comment “passive.”

There’s a quiet KPI nobody tracks… Hiring Manager Happiness. But when THIS moves, everything else follows.

In this conversation with Divya Chethan, we realised something simple but uncomfortable: when hiring works, truly works... 1-2 interview, 1 offer, 1 hire is possible.

No calendar ping-pong.
No “are you free at 4… no, 5… next week?”
No wasted prep for interviews that were never going to convert.

That single shift does three things TA leaders will instantly recognise:
• Recruiter hours drop sharply
• Hiring managers stop resenting interviews
• Candidate experience actually improves

And here’s the part most teams miss 👇
Candidate experience is your recruiting brand.

You can pay top of market.
You can run glossy employer branding campaigns.
But if candidates feel rushed, processed, or ignored - you will always struggle to hire.

Recruiters aren’t meant to be schedulers.
They’re meant to talk to people.
That’s how real industry insight, trust, and long-term hiring strength is built.

If your team spends more time coordinating interviews than having meaningful candidate conversations, comment “time”.

Most hiring inefficiency doesn’t start at interviews.
It starts before that — at bad screening.

Over the years, we quietly turned “screening” into a mini-interview.
Deep questions. Long calls. Premature judgments.
That’s backward.

Screening isn’t about proving a candidate is great. It’s about confidently saying: this one fits / this one doesn’t.

This was one the topic in discussion with Divya Chethan on our podcast, Swipe Right for Talent - and the more we unpacked it, the clearer it became: when recruiters are forced to over-evaluate too early, everyone loses.

• Good candidates get tired
• Recruiters lose time
• Hiring managers see noise instead of signal

CBREX’s C FIT was built around a principle most TA leaders intuitively know but rarely systemize: Fitment is hygiene. Assessment comes later.

If your team is spending senior time deciding fit instead of potential, comment “C FIT.”

It’s easy to hate “that HR” who never called back.. But often, it’s not indifference but the system turning great recruiters into bad experiences.

80–90% of a recruiter’s day goes into sourcing, scheduling, chasing, reporting... 10–20% goes into actual candidate conversations.
And then... we wonder why candidates feel like commodities 😐

Bad candidate experience doesn’t just hurt feelings. It quietly destroys a hiring brand.

Because candidates don’t trust careers page. They trust the friend who says: “Yeah… I interviewed there. Didn’t feel great.”

That story travels faster than any employer branding campaign.

Meanwhile, “that HR”? that recruiter is juggling:
• 108 tabs
• WhatsApp pings
• Vendor follow-ups
• Status calls
• Reports nobody enjoys

That’s not productivity. That’s survival mode. CBREX exists to end that.

In this clip from Episode 6 of Swipe Right for Talent , Divya Chethan & I discuss about a simple truth: If recruiters don’t get time back, nothing else in hiring improves — not experience, not brand, not outcomes.

Comment “time” if this feels familiar and prioritise candidate experience.

Quick question for TA leaders: When did rejection become a core part of our hiring strategy?

Interviewing 10–20 people to hire one isn’t rigor. It’s friction we’ve normalized.

Candidates feel it.
Hiring managers resent it.
Recruiters burn out trying to hold it together.

In this clip with Divya Chethan, we talk about why the industry accepted this as “normal” — and why it doesn’t have to be. 🎥 Short clip below from the recent episode of podcast Swipe Right for Talent.

Comment “Candidate-first” if this perspective resonates with you.

Most external hiring delays aren’t because vendors are bad..

They happen because we expect generalists to suddenly behave like specialists.

A vendor can be excellent — for few skills, couple of key location, some domains... But when the mix changes (roles, geographies, expectations), speed quietly collapses.

Relationships matter, specially when it comes to our function.
But when the mix changes, specialisation matters more.

This conversation with Divya Chethan breaks down why modern hiring needs precision vendor selection, why modern hiring systems must be built to identify the right specialist instantly, not weeks later and why CBREX’S CPRO is already there.

Comment “specialist” if this hits close to home.

Most hiring conversations obsess over speed. Some argue about quality.Almost nobody talks about the one metric most leaders actually care about.

The bottom line.

Divya Chethan and I had an interesting conversation breaking hiring down to first principles of successful enterprise hiring —

1️⃣ Can you hit the number?
2️⃣ Can you hit it on time, across roles and teams?
3️⃣ How much human time does it take to make that happen?

Because here’s the uncomfortable truth...... If recruiters and hiring managers are spending hours just running the process, someone, somewhere, is paying for it. And no — this isn’t about squeezing recruiters harder or putting up “work smarter” posters.

The real answer is hiring predictability: a model where coverage, timelines, and outcomes are factored and designed in, not chased daily, manually, by humans.

Let recruiters do what they’re actually great at:
👉 spending time with candidates
👉 raising the bar on quality
👉 elevating the function where it belongs

And let AI systems carry the grunt work — with sharp humans firmly in the loop.

When hiring becomes predictable:

• Recruiter & hiring-manager time drops
• Targets get met without firefighting
• And yes — revenue finally moves in the right direction

We’ve seen this play out repeatedly. In one case, a US-based pharma organization saved over $700K in vendor hiring simply by using the right model and platform.

That’s exactly what we’ve been building, refining, and pressure-testing with C PRO at CBREX. 🎥 Short clip below.

For years, TA folks have accepted this as “just how hiring works”: Interview 10, 20 even 50 people to hire 1... hire just one??

I don’t think that was ever normal. I think we just got used to it.

Every extra interview isn’t free.
1. It costs recruiter focus.
2. Hiring-manager time.
3. Candidate trust.

And often, the opportunity itself.

What makes it worse?

While businesses move in weeks, our hiring systems are still operating on 20-year-old timelines. Vendor empanelment alone can take 2–5 months.

TA teams are under pressure to deliver now but the machinery moves at its own pace. That friction shows up as burnout, firefighting, and “why is this so hard?”

In this clip, Divya Chethan and I talk about something I care deeply about:
If AI is doing its job, recruiters should get time back — not more work.

Time to think.
Time to listen.
Time to have real, meaningful conversations with candidates again.

🎥 Short clip below.

Comment “relatable” if this sounds familiar and to stay tuned to the full episode of CBREX’s podcast Swipe Right for Talent.

Most TA leaders talk about the top of the funnel - more applicants, more resumes, more pipeline, more and....some more. 🫥

In 2026, a competent TA team shouldn’t be asking: “How do I get 100 candidates?” or even, “How do I shortlist 10?”

The real question should be: How do I confidently interview one… and hire that one?

That’s the hiring holy grail, right? Because who even wakes up excited to interview 9 people they’ll reject anyway. (If they do, they clearly haven’t been part of interviews from a very long time.. 🤔 )

If AI is going to matter, it won’t be by adding speed or volume. It’ll matter by predicting who actually converts - cutting fatigue, boosting productivity, and directly increasing revenue saving time and resources.

This line of thinking is what led us to build C PRO here at CBREX — not to deliver more candidates, but to get you closer to THE One.
