Manage resources well.
Resource handling is the most important aspect of operations. When you are given the responsibility of managing a post sales related activity, be it maintenance/services/customer satisfaction/retaining the customer.
Once a sale happens for an entity(resources) that has warranty/guarantee associated with it, you got to have all the workflows well oiled, to make sure nothing goes against the assured terms, customer wins.
In cases of machines/equipment, emphasis is more on AMC ( getting a faulty one - is once in a while act, or am I wrong?) . Businesses that use these assets(resources) need to have right workflows configured within their ecosystem.
The slow trickle of costs associated with these resources do start piling up if right vigilance does not happen, often change of hands, knowledge base growth, right details recording are all jumbled in many scenarios. Ending in only capturing details at high level.
Implementing solutions/CRM/workflows/automation with context based information gathering approach can be a better way ahead.
