🌾 On May 25, 2026, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced a significant ₹2,044.46 crore crop loan waiver, providing essential financial relief to 14.22 lakh farming families. This initiative, part of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government's commitment to support small-scale agriculture, covers short-term loans from cooperative banks taken between May 1, 2025, and February 28, 2026.
Outstanding loans up to ₹50,000 will be fully waived, while a 50% waiver applies to loans up to ₹1 lakh. This strategic move aims to help distressed farmers regain their economic footing and access fresh credit for the upcoming cultivation season.
