*J&K Police Conducts Checking of Medical Shops in Budgam*

*April 18:* ```Under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, J&K Police conducted a comprehensive checking drive of medical shops at various locations within the district to ensure strict compliance with government regulations and prevent the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs.

During the drive, joint teams of Budgam Police and the Drug Inspector inspected stock registers, sale and purchase records, valid licenses, and other mandatory documents of medical shop owners. The objective of the exercise was to identify any irregularities and curb the illegal sale or misuse of medicines, particularly controlled and prescription drugs, which may contribute to substance abuse among youth. Necessary instructions were issued to shopkeepers to strictly adhere to prescribed norms.

J&K Police reiterated that such joint inspection drives will continue under the initiative to ensure accountability, promote lawful practices, and safeguard public health and safety. Medical shopkeepers were advised to maintain proper documentation, strictly follow regulations, and extend full cooperation during inspections.```

*April 15:* ```Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, J&K Police arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A Police party of Police Station Sonamarg during naka checking at New Bridge Bypass Road Sonamarg intercepted a suspicious person identified as Tariq Ahmad Raina son of Ghulam Nabi Raina resident of Khanan Kangan. During his personal search, Contraband Substance (Charas) was recovered from his possession and seized on the spot. He was arrested and accordingly a case vide, FIR No. 05/2026 under sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sonamarg, and further investigation is underway.

Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and urges the general public to cooperate with Police by sharing any information related to drug peddling so that strict legal action can be taken against offenders.```

*Anantnag Police Arrest Three Drug Peddlers; Contraband Recovered*

Anantnag, April 13:
Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, Anantnag Police apprehended three individuals in separate incidents and recovered significant quantities of contraband substances from their possession.

A police party from PP GBS Anantnag, during patrolling at KP Road, apprehended one person identified as Waseem Ahmad Dar S/o Fayaz Ahmad Dar R/o General Bus Stand Anantnag. During search, 11 lathies of charas-like substance weighing approximately 228 grams were recovered. Accordingly, FIR No. 95/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Anantnag.

In another incident, a police party from PP Khanabal during naka checking at Batengoo–Shoul crossing apprehended one person identified as Rameez Ahmad Dar S/o Fayaz Ahmad Dar R/o Shoul, Batengoo. During search, charas-like substance weighing approximately 39 grams was recovered. FIR No. 96/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Anantnag.

In a third incident, during naka checking at Polia, Dooru, a police party apprehended one person identified as Aaqib Amin Sofi S/o Mohd Amin Sofi R/o Verinag. During his personal search, crushed charas-like substance weighing approximately 1.91kg charas like substance was recovered from a polythene bag in his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 47/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Dooru and investigation has been taken up.

Anantnag Police remains committed to curbing drug trafficking and urges the general public to cooperate in eradicating this menace from society.

*J&K Police arrests drug peddler in Pulwama; Contraband substance recovered*

*April 12:* ```Continuing its sustained efforts to eliminate the menace of drugs from society, J&K Police in Pulwama have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

During naka checking near Police Station Kakpora, a police party from Police Station Kakpora intercepted a vehicle (Wagon R) bearing registration No. JK05C-6047 driven by Jehangir Ahmad Takoo resident of Lone Mohalla Kakpora. During search, approximately 2.150 kilograms of contraband substance (Bang Boosa) was recovered from the dicky of the vehicle.The accused was arrested and vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 30/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kakpora and investigation has been initiated.
