Many engineers believe:
👉 “Just add more decoupling capacitors. Noise will disappear.”
That’s not how it works.
Adding more capacitors does not automatically eliminate noise.
What actually matters?
✅ Placement near IC power pins
✅ Correct value selection (bulk + high-frequency ceramic)
✅ Low-inductance return path
✅ Short trace length
A 0.1µF ceramic capacitor placed 3–4 cm away from the IC is almost useless at high frequencies.
At high speeds, trace inductance dominates.
In power integrity design, placement defines performance.
Before increasing capacitor count, improve layout discipline.
Good hardware design is about physics — not quantity.
