As a part of the departmental elective for semester 5 B. Des. students of Graphic Design at the National Institute of Design, I am offering a 2 week module on basics of relief printing and letterpress.

Summer Workshops 1/2015 ~ Creative Book Binding conducted by Tarun Deep Girdher, Sr. Faculty, Graphic Design. There were 20 participants from varied backgrounds including school students, professionals and homemaker. The youngest participant was an enthusiastic 13 year old and the eldest was over 45.
Several basic techniques such as paper folding, creasing, cutting and pasting. Four major techniques of book binding were taught including saddle stitch (three holes), accordion with hard cover, stab binding and section stitch with hard case. Variants of each technique were made during the workshop.
In just over 4 days, 20 participants together hand bound some 400+ books. The most reliable Team Print Labs also assisting in the inputs.

~ Design Film Workshop on Screen Printing

One of the first independent film projects Film & Video UG students at NID do is a short film on an aspect of Design. Prior to starting their individual Design film projects, the students are exposed to the entire process through a Design Film workshop, conducted by a visiting professional. This film is the outcome of one such workshop took place in August 2014, for the 3rd Year UG students of Film & Video at NID. It was conducted by Ms Chandita Mukherjee, senior documentary film-maker and founder/director of Comet Media Foundation, Mumbai.
