🇺🇸 The House of the Minute is a building located on Old Town Square in Prague. Designated a cultural monument of the Czech Republic, it was built in the Late Gothic style in the early 15th century. The house first served as a pharmacy, hence its name “U Bílého lv” (The White Lion), and later became “Tabák” (The To***co Shop), where the name “Dům U Minuty” (House of the Minute) first appeared. I was drawn to the lion sculpture at the corner of the building, but the murals covering the entire facade are truly magnificent. I made a mistake regarding the name of the sketch: the location listed is actually that of the neighboring building!

🇫🇷 La Maison de la Minute est un bâtiment situé sur la place de la Vieille Ville à Prague. Classée monument culturel de la République tchèque, elle a été construite dans le style gothique tardif au début du XVe siècle. La maison a d’abord servi de pharmacie, d’où son nom « U Bílého lv » (Le Lion blanc), puis elle est devenue « Tabák » (Le Magasin de tabac), où le nom « Dům U Minuty » (Maison de la Minute) est apparu pour la première fois. J’ai été attiré par la sculpture du lion, située à l’angle du bâtiment, mais les peintures murales qui recouvrent toute la façade sont vraiment magnifiques. J’ai fait une erreur sur le nom du croquis : l’emplacement donné est celui du bâtiment voisin !
