I don’t know about you but I am sooooo sick of seeing Generative AI everywhere! 😷
“It’s so efficient,”… while you’re on day 40 of prompting and the nav still doesn’t work on mobile. ‘I’m saving so much money’...while two months later you’re still tweaking, your site still isn’t live, it still doesn’t feel right and you’re losing out on paying clients 🫠
How many times have you typed “no that’s not what I meant”...less corporate”...“make it sound more human... no, not THAT human”...“make it feel more me”...“warmer”...“less cringe”...“more luxury”...“actually, less luxury”...
Efficiency isn’t efficient if you’re reexplaining what you want 60 times! 😬
And even when you finally get to “good enough”…is it even accessible? Does the nav work on a 4 year old Android? Does the colour contrast pass WCAG? Does it work for screen readers and keyboard users? Or does it just look exactly like the other 10,000 AI-generated sites that launched this week 👀
Meanwhile you’re paying subscriptions that keep increasing, hitting prompt limits every other day, rebuilding sections over and over, hiring developers to fix what broke, and praying the platform doesn’t suddenly move the features you need behind a higher paywall 🙈
We’ve already watched AI tools explode in popularity and vanish six months later….so what happens to your website then? 🫠
I’m not anti-AI at all, I use it for lots of parts of my business! And if learning to build your own website excites you, you should go for it! But don’t trick yourself into thinking it’s the smarter business decision thats automatically faster, cheaper or more effective than hiring someone who already knows what they’re doing… because most of the time, it isn’t!
Some things still need a human who gets it on the first brief. Not the sixtieth prompt. ✨
