But where do things currently stand with NIS2? 🤔

Ireland missed the EU deadline of 17 October 2024 to implement NIS2 into national law. In July 2026, the European Commission referred Ireland to the EU Court of Justice and requested financial penalties over the delay.

While Ireland’s implementation is still pending, businesses should use this time to prepare. Don’t wait for the legislation to be finalised to take action.

At this point, we don’t know exactly what may have been accessed, so for now:

For now:

🔹 Don’t respond to the message or contact the sender.
🔹 Don’t click any links in follow-up messages about the incident. Go directly to the ASOS app or website instead.
🔹 Check your account for anything unusual, such as changes to your details, orders or payment information.
🔹 Change your password if you use the same one anywhere else, and make sure your passwords are unique.
🔹 Watch for phishing attempts. If attackers have your details, follow-up emails or texts could use this incident to make a scam look convincing.
🔹 Keep an eye on ASOS’s official social media channels and website for confirmed updates rather than relying on messages or posts circulating online.

Most importantly, don’t let a worrying notification push you into making a quick decision. Take a moment, verify the information and use official channels. 🔐

This month, we’re putting the spotlight on Google’s Gemini AI and a cybersecurity test where it managed to access three real companies by finding information, identifying credentials and carrying out multiple steps of an attack.

Why this one? Because it shows how AI is changing the way cyber attacks could happen. Tasks that once required human effort can increasingly be automated, meaning security gaps could potentially be found and exploited much faster.
