Potential alterations to the EU’s AI Act are facing scrutiny by SMEs across Europe, who are concerned that the regulations could impact barriers to entry for smaller businesses in this sector.

The issue relates as to how the AI Act will regulate foundation models, which are large machine learning systems that power products such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard.

Great news for the South East region as Waterford Airport has secured over €12m in private funding to lengthen the current runway.

The airport hasn't operated commercial flights since 2016 and hopes to have sufficient infrastructure in place to operate flights to UK & European destinations by the end of 2024.

MNCs such as Google, Meta & TikTok have won their case within Europe's top court in a fight against Austrian law which had almost brought fines of up to €10 million.

As all three companies have their European HQ's in Ireland, the court found that the online service providers were only subject to the "country where they are established".

The initial fine was in relation to the Digital Services Act (DSA) which requires big companies to do more in terms of tackling "illegal or harmful content" being shared from their platforms.
