The ‘Dirty Cow’ bug has lay dormant for nine years, sitting unnoticed that time The Linux operating system which runs most of the Web Servers in the world and smartphones has this critical vulnerability. Called “Dirty Cow” (because it exploits an area called copy-on-write), the bug allows a hacker to gain access to the Linux kernel. Dirty Cow is known as a “privilege escalation bug”, which means that it allows an attacker which has already gained some measure of access over a server or mobile phone can now get unrestricted or total control.
