Local Training Initiative programme which is a training and work experience programme carried out in partnership with GRETB and community and voluntary organisations. Training is provided in the most common aspects of a modern office, which enables candidates to confidently apply for employment in this area or progress to other education options. The programme enables local communities to carry ou
t valuable and necessary projects of benefit to their communities, while at the same time training participants in areas related to the project work. There are no formal educational requirements for the programme. Anyone who is unemployed and over the age of 16, at any level of literacy, is eligible to participate. The course is free, participants on Social Welfare retain their payments and may be eligible for an extra travel allowance.Those not on any Social Welfare payment can apply for the course and will receive a travel and meal allowance. Class times are Monday – Thursday 9.00am – 4.30pm and Friday 9.00am – 1.15pm.
