My puffin is finished, the latest addition to my Birds of Ireland collection!

He’s A2 in size, so here I am holding him to give you a sense of scale.

He was an absolute joy to paint. From the different textures in his feathers to his smooth beak and webbed feet, there was so much to explore and I loved those pops of colour.

A huge thank you to Northern Ireland wildlife photographer Tomasz Dudarewicz for kindly allowing me to use his amazing photograph as my reference. Such a pleasure bringing this little character to life.

My latest painting from my Birds of Ireland collection, Cruidín | Kingfisher

Prints will be available in the next few weeks.

A big thank you to Irish photographer Chris McGurgan for allowing me to use his beautiful photograph, taken in Donegal, as my reference for this piece.

And I’m keeping the aquatic theme going for the next painting… I can’t wait to get started.

How I painted The Hooded Crow

24/08/2026

I am trying to learn a little about the little creatures I am illustrating, in my Birds of Ireland collection.

First up is a few little fun facts about the Coal Tit. Ireland has its own subspecies!! Who knew.

I’ve overlaid the call of the coal tit, so the next time you’re in your garden you might recognise its distinctive sound.

An Introduction 👋🏼
There are quite a few new faces here lately, so I thought I’d share a little bit about me, my background and how I found my way back to art after almost 20 years away from it.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴

This one nearly didn’t make it. There was a point where I genuinely thought I’d never finish it and I walked away from it for over three weeks. Every time I returned, it was a battle. Now it's finished, I think the struggle was worth it!

Thank you for all you very kind comments, and I have had several requests for prints. So I am hoping to do some affordable digital prints and then some limited edition ones.

Thanks for all your support!
