Most people sign up to MapAlerter expecting weather warnings. There are fourteen categories 📍

Severe weather is the one everyone knows. Met Éireann warnings, issued by county, valid for specific time windows. It's the reason many residents register in the first place.

Then daily life takes over. Road closures, river heights, bathing water quality. The alerts you check without thinking, because they shape the school run, the summer swim, the drive home through Wicklow or Waterford.

Further down the list is where the quiet value sits.

Planning activity, filtered to your registered area, so a new application next door doesn't slip past you. Commencement notices from the National Building Control Office, telling you when construction on a nearby site is legally starting. Agricultural alerts covering slurry spreading restrictions and high-pollution-risk warnings. Public consultations from your local authority, open for community input before decisions are made.

These are not emergency alerts. They are the everyday local intelligence layer. The things that matter if you own property, work land, or have a stake in what gets built on your road.

Fourteen categories. One free service. Filtered to your area.

When every alert feels urgent, none of them are.

That's how notification fatigue starts. A flood warning for a river 90km away. A road closure in a county you've never driven through. Over time, you stop reading. You mute the channel. And when the alert that actually matters lands, it's buried with the rest.

MapAlerter is built the other way around 📍

You pin the locations that matter to you: your home, your parents' address, your child's school, the yard, the coast road you commute on. Alerts from the 23 Irish local authorities on the platform are filtered against those pins.

Severe weather from Met Éireann. Road closures from Wexford County Council. Planning applications next door. Water outages on your street. Bathing water status at your local beach.

If it doesn't touch a location you care about, it doesn't reach you.

Hyper-local isn't a nice-to-have. It's what keeps the signal loud enough to act on.

A planning application goes up near your home. You find out three weeks later, from a neighbour over the wall 📍

By then, the consultation window has closed and the decision is already made.

It's a phrase we hear often: "I only heard about it after the decision was made." It almost always points to the same thing. The person was relying on a physical site notice or word of mouth, not an alert tied to where they actually live.

Across Ireland's 23 local authorities, planning applications are filed every working day. Commencement notices flow in through the National Building Control Office. Decisions are published on a rolling basis. Without a location-based filter, that's not information you can reasonably keep up with.

The fix is one step: drop a pin on your home address and opt in to Planning Activity alerts. From that point on, you're only notified about applications near you, not the national noise.

That's the difference between hearing about a development after the fact and knowing the day it was filed.

The towel is already in the bag before we send the alert.

That's the point of a bathing water notice. It should reach you while you're still deciding which beach, not after you've parked the car and unpacked the sandwiches.

Bathing water quality alerts are available across all 23 councils on MapAlerter. From Donegal to Wexford, if your local authority flags a swim restriction at a beach or lake near you, we send it straight to your phone.

No scrolling through council websites. No guessing whether the notice is for your stretch of coast or one three counties away. Just the specific beach, the specific status, before you leave the house.

Quiet monitoring in the background. A clear answer before you pack.
