A lifetime impression, gone too soon
Some people pass through life quietly. Others leave footprints that can never be erased. He was one of those rare people.
He embraced life with both arms. He lived it fast, lived it fully, and made every moment count. His infectious laugh, booming confidence, endless stories, and genuine love for people meant you always knew when he was in the room—and it was always a better place because of it.
Above all else, he loved his family. They were his greatest pride, and everything he did was filled with love for them. He was a devoted brother, a dedicated father, a loyal friend, and someone who made lasting connections wherever life took him. I was lucky enough to know him as both a friend and an ex-colleague, and I will always treasure that, but David was lucky to call him his brother for the last 50 years
He had a passion for sport, never missing the chance to cheer on Liverpool or Galway GAA. He loved history, especially the stories of his own family and the courage of his ancestors who fought the Black and Tans. Those stories weren’t just history to him—they were part of who he was, and he told them with pride and passion.
He loved to dance, loved to sing, and enjoyed sharing a few drinks with the people he cared about. He had an incredible gift for bringing people together and making ordinary moments unforgettable. His larger-than-life personality, his warmth, and his sense of fun will be missed beyond words.
He has been taken far too young, and that is deeply unfair. But while his life was shorter than it should have been, it was filled with more love, laughter, friendship, and adventure than many people experience in a lifetime.
His legacy lives on in his family, in the countless stories that will continue to be told, in the memories he created, and in every life he touched. He was truly one of a kind—an amazing, beautiful man who lived life exactly as it should be lived: with passion, generosity, and an open heart.
Rest easy, my friend. You will never be forgotten.
