Global Gamecraft

Global Gamecraft We organise game jams every ewhere we can bringing together a community to share, learn and have fun making games within one day. [email protected]

GameCraft is a games jam event designed around building the gaming community. We aim to create events which allow game-makers to meet, share ideas, have fun, compete for prizes and most importantly make games! The first Dublin GameCraft took place in February of 2012 in DIT with over 120 attendees producing more than 35 games. Since then Dublin GameCraft has gone from strength to strength with eve

nts in GamesFlá Thurles, in Belfast, and even a charity GameCraft for ISPCA. You can find out more about us here, and read all the latest GameCraft news here.

Your newly elected IGA Chair here with a few words to say.

This past week (13th – 19th) was Trans Awareness Week and Trans Day of Remembrance is here, November 20th. I think it’s obvious to say that we are seeing an increase in intolerance and hate in the world. Between the US being what it is, the UK putting laws into place that negatively impact all of our sisters, and intolerance rearing its ugly head elsewhere, there is no room for silence.

The gaming community is built from diversity, with people from all backgrounds contributing to this hobby we share. The IGA wouldn’t be where it is without the contributions of countless volunteers, many of whom are in the LGBTQ+ community.

The IGA has a DEI Policy that strictly prohibits discrimination on the grounds of gender, marital status, family status, age, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion, and membership of the Traveller community. We firmly stand by this policy and will not tolerate any hate or discrimination at any of our events.

If you are interested in gaming, usually of the board-type variety, our community is open to you. You do not need to have experience, you do not need to own 20+ different sets of dice (they call to me), and you do not need to have played in any RPG to be a part of our community. All are welcome at our table; we even accept monopoly players, though we don’t own it.

Trans rights are human rights.
