If you’ve priced hardware recently, you’ve felt it: the cost of memory and storage is climbing fast.

The same AI boom driving demand for data centres is pulling RAM, SSDs and hard drives into short supply. Analysts have tracked DRAM contract prices rising around 60% in a single quarter of 2026, NAND and SSD prices up roughly 70% quarter on quarter, and Western Digital confirming its hard-drive output is effectively sold out for the year. Most expect the squeeze to last into 2027.

For Irish businesses, that changes the maths. Replacing equipment the moment the original manufacturer (the OEM) ends support is no longer the obvious choice. Extending the life of what you already own, through third-party maintenance and smart planning, can protect budgets without compromising reliability.
