When should memorial cards be sent?

There is no fixed rule.

Many families choose to send memorial cards several months after the funeral, when they have had time to choose photographs, wording and a design that feels right.

Memorial cards are normally sent between 3 and 12 months after the death or funeral, but every family is different.

The important thing is not to feel rushed.

A memorial card does not have to follow a standard layout.

Some families prefer a traditional religious design, while others choose flowers, landscapes, farming scenes, favourite places or photographs that reflect the person’s life.

Choosing the right photograph is often the hardest part of creating a memorial card.

A clear photograph is helpful, but it does not have to be perfect. Older photographs can often be improved, backgrounds can be softened, and distracting details may be removed before the design is prepared.
