We had the pleasure of hosting our second annual Smarttech247 Women in Tech dinner in Dublin alongside Splunk last week and it was great to see another full house. When we started these dinners, the idea was simply to bring more women across technology, cybersecurity and business together, and it’s been really encouraging to see how much interest there is! We strongly believe that the more visible we make women in technology and cybersecurity, the more we encourage others to see the opportunities available to them. And bringing women together like this is one small, but important part of that.
What’s been particularly nice is seeing professional connections develop into friendships. That’s what makes these evenings so worthwhile.

A big thank you to Splunk for partnering with us again and to all the brilliant women who joined us. Really enjoyed the evening and looking forward to the next one already!

Threat actor spotlight ⚠️

Qilin has published over 2,000 victims on its leak site since 2022, more than any other ransomware group operating today. No arrests. No sanctions. No law enforcement action.

Its growth accelerated when a rival platform, RansomHub, collapsed in April 2025 and its affiliates migrated to Qilin en masse. It also runs a negotiation tactic unlike most of its peers, reframing ransom demands around regulatory and litigation risk rather than data loss alone.

In June 2024, the group encrypted pathology systems at Synnovis, a key NHS partner, disrupting blood testing and forcing hospitals to cancel operations.
