Interesting information on getting broadband to rural areas. Have a listen. The too long didn't listen version is this: Use Fixed Broadband instead of Fibre for Rural Areas.
What is Fixed Broadband? Attach an antenna to the side of your house and access broadband wirelessly from a nearby hub.
Why is this the way to go: Ireland is pretty unique in terms of how many one-off rural houses we have in the country (blame the Brits and their landlord ways!). To connect every single house could take another decade or more. Fixed Wireless could be rolled out within months with similar speeds.
Can I get Fixed Wireless to my home now? YES - there are several providers such as Imagine.ie already providing this service, including in the Charlestown region.
