If you're using Windows 10, there's no avoiding the Windows Creators Update (AKA Redstone 3).
The update will be carried out starting from 17 October 2017 via automatic Windows updates. This update will take longer than usual because your operating system will be completely reinstalled.
Of course, this means more can go wrong than usual.
Please note the following:
=> You need at least 20 GB of free space on your system drive. More is better. Delete any unnecessary data if necessary or move your files to an external hard drive. In any case, you should run the windows disk cleanup feature now.
=> Check if you have any unnecessary software installed. Anything you don't need will cost you a lot of time during the Creators Update and increase the probability of errors.
=> You should back up your data now. Better safe than sorry.
=> If the Creators Update hasn't been completed on your computer after October 20th, you should start the update manually using the Windows 10 Update Assistant.

=> If you're still unable to install the update using the assistant, then uninstall your antivirus software and reinstall it immediately after the update.
