As we look forward to Forestra 2026, we return to a piece of work we created for Forestra 2024.

For Forestra 2024, we began with a thought that music is an invisible vibration. It moves through the body, resonates in the heart, and leaves behind a feeling.

From this idea, we developed the main theme: Simfoni Gema Rasa. This message captures how different voices, sounds, and experiences can meet in harmony. A reflection on how music can become a space where differences can coexist, resonate, and create something beautiful together. The message was then brought into the spatial experience of Forestra.

For the visual identity, we chose the orchestra players as the heart of the story. Through a figurative illustration approach, their forms become part of a larger visual landscape that overlaps, dissolves, and creates new expression as one frame meets another.

It reflects the spirit of Forestra itself: the meeting of nature and music, the fluidity of orchestral sounds responding to different genres, and the human stories that exist between them.

Last month, we collaborated on the handwritten Aksara Jawa lettering featured in Vaterland or A Bule Named Yanto directed by .mov
From the very beginning, director Berthold Wahjudi was eager to visually express his Javanese identity within the film’s graphic elements.

As Vaterland explores the experience of belonging between cultures, languages, and places, Aksara Jawa became more than a visual motif—it became a way to let that identity exist on screen. To preserve its personal and intimate quality, every letterform was written by hand, allowing the script to sit alongside the Latin text as a second voice throughout the film. Huge thanks to Madfilms and Aftersun 🎬 Creative for the collaboration.

Special thanks to Ersya Ruswandono for the opportunity and for the English-to-Javanese translation that helped shape the dual-language structure. And congratulations to all the team behind Vaterland or A Bule Named Yanto on the film’s world premiere and award at Cannes’ Semaine de la Critique. We’re glad our small part of contribution could travel with it, that’s a milestone worth marking guys!

Within this collection, gamelan fills the space beyond sound.

Drawing from the dialogue between Javanese and Balinese gamelan, Gamelan Ensemble rearticulates the instrument beyond how it is heard into how it is physically felt around us.

From two artistic lenses of and .mahardika , rooted in the collection of the late Hendra Hadiprana, it marks a rare interdisciplinary intersection. Each piece in Gamelan Ensemble becomes an echo that carries traces of its origin while taking on a new expression. Its layered tones remind us that harmony is both a sound and a way of being.

Carrying the rhythm forward, we shaped the visual identity of Gamelan Ensemble by resonating with its cultural stories. Between nayaga and rakyat, gamelan exists within those who play and those who receive. It is not a distant object, but something that lives through interaction and shared experience, most experienced in Pagelaran Wayang.

The identity captures these resonances as forms that move between past and present, balancing poetic expression with functional clarity, allowing tradition to exist within a contemporary context.

Gamelan Ensemble becomes a shared enthusiasm for us to move beyond narratives of Nusantara identity and explore what it can become today.

Much appreciated and kudos to our collaborators 🙌🏼:
