AI in UK Software Development: Trend or Real Impact?🤖

Over the past 12–18 months, AI has become almost the default in UK engineering teams. The real question is: are we just following a trend, or is delivery actually improving?📈

The difference rarely comes down to picking the “best model”. It’s usually about whether AI is embedded into day-to-day work and whether it reduces friction across the software lifecycle (handoffs, manual steps, errors, slow feedback loops).
- Trend usage: ad-hoc prompting, quick code snippets, “sometimes it helps” but no integration, no standards, no measurement.
- Real impact: AI is applied to specific processes and removes time/risk from them.

Where we most often see tangible results tends to fall into four areas:🔎
- AI Integration – connecting AI to existing systems and applications
- AI‑Driven Automation – automating manual, repetitive steps
- AI Agent – answering from data/knowledge bases, reporting, completing tasks
- AI Workflow – structuring and automating end-to-end processes

We specialise in UK-focused delivery and provide AI software development services built around these areas.

Thank you to the Tappancs Animal Welfare Foundation for their kind feedback and for the important work they do every day. 🐾
We are pleased that, through the joint efforts of our colleagues, we were also able to contribute to supporting the residents of Tappancs Tanya.
Thank you to all our employees who supported the initiative with baked goods, donations, or purchases. 💙

Hálás szívvel szeretnénk megköszönni a RabIT Solutions Zrt. munkatársainak azt a fantasztikus összefogást, amellyel a Tappancs Tanya lakóit támogatták. ❤️

Outsourcing vs. in house team: why are more and more companies choosing outsourcing?🤝🖥

Building an in house team can be a great option, but it is often slow, more expensive, and hard to scale flexibly, especially when you need to deliver fast or your backlog suddenly grows. That is why more and more UK and European companies choose to work with an outsourcing or nearshore partner, or at least augment part of their team this way.🔁

Why is outsourcing the better choice in many cases?✅
- Faster start and faster delivery
Instead of waiting months for hiring and onboarding, a well structured team can ramp up in days or weeks, so delivery can start quickly.
- Flexibility when capacity needs change
You can scale up during peak periods and scale back afterwards. Doing this with an in house team is significantly harder and more expensive.
- Cost efficiency and predictability
Lower fixed payroll costs, easier capacity planning, and often better ROI, especially when working with an EU or European nearshore partner.
- Immediate access to specialists
Mobile, cloud, data, security, you do not need to build every capability in house if you only need it periodically.

We strongly believe in this model, which is why we work in an outsourcing or nearshore setup ourselves. It is faster, more flexible, and in many cases simply a better business decision. Good collaboration is not a task factory. With a transparent backlog, regular demos, a steady cadence, clear ownership, and fast feedback loops, delivery stays predictable and controlled.

Why does an IT company need ISO 27001 certification? ✅📄

Information security is no longer a “nice to have” it’s a baseline expectation. IT companies often handle customer data, business documents, source code, infrastructure access, and internal systems. That’s why data protection shouldn’t rely on habits or individual best effort, but on an audited, structured system. This is what our ISO 27001 certification represents.

What does it mean in practice?🤔
ISO 27001 is about operating an Information Security Management System: identifying and managing risks, controlling access, using documented procedures, having incident management in place, building security awareness, and continuously improving all verified through regular audits.

Why is it important for an IT company?🖥
- reduces the risk of data loss and security incidents
- standardizes and clarifies security processes (who can access what, and how)
- strengthens accountability and control across projects and operations
- ensures security is built into everyday work, not added as an afterthought

Why does it matter to clients?🤝
- greater trust: a proven, controlled approach to handling information
- lower business risk: fewer chances of data breaches, downtime, and reputational damage
- in many industries and tenders, certified security practices are an explicit requirement

ISO 27001 isn’t just a badge it’s a signal that security is a system, a discipline, and an ongoing commitment.✅

Why does an IT company need ISO 9001 certification?📄✅

Quality in software development and IT services isn’t just about the final result. It’s just as much about how the work is done: planning, communication, development, testing, documentation, delivery, and support. ISO 9001 certification shows that quality at our company isn’t occasional it’s process-based and independently audited.

What does this mean in day-to-day operations?🤔
We operate a quality management system where processes are defined, measurable, and continuously improved. We learn from feedback and experience, and we intentionally reduce errors, misunderstandings, and unnecessary rework.

Why is it important for an IT company?🖥️
- enables more consistent delivery across multiple projects and teams
- reduces ad-hoc ways of working by clarifying responsibilities and decision points
- supports continuous improvement: not only fixing issues, but helping prevent them from recurring
- makes project management and quality assurance more predictable

Why does it matter to clients?🤝
- clearer collaboration and communication
- better quality, less rework, more stable outcomes
- more predictable timelines and lower delivery risk

The key takeaway of ISO 9001: quality shouldn’t depend on luck or individual routines it should be ensured through a repeatable, continuously improved way of working.

SaaSpocalypse: SaaS Is Splitting Into Two Camps “Feature” vs “Workflow”📉

Not every SaaS product is in trouble because of AI. But the whole point of the SaaSpocalypse is that a sharper and sharper line is being drawn between what’s merely a well-packaged feature…and what actually holds a business process together.

⚠️A SaaS product is vulnerable if it:
- delivers 1–2 easily replicable features (that an AI model or a platform can match in a matter of weeks),
- isn’t deeply embedded in day-to-day operations,
- and is easy to replace (there’s no real switching cost it doesn’t hurt to swap it out tomorrow).

👉These are typically the products that are “beautiful, fast, and smart” but not truly essential. This is exactly where the SaaSpocalypse hits: when companies look at their stack and realize they can get the same value elsewhere (from a platform, built-in AI, or an agentic workflow).

💪A SaaS product is strong if it:
- sits where the work actually happens (deep integrations, daily usage, system-level embeddedness),
- manages context and data (a permission + data advantage: not just “UI,” but it knows who did what, what they’re allowed to access, and the current state of the process),
- understands industry logic and rules (compliance / vertical solutions),
- and isn’t just a “tool,” but a system that delivers outcomes (not a small task, but a completed output).

Put simply: AI makes features cheaper and more widely available. It makes workflows more valuable.
And that’s why it matters which side you (or your product) are on: “a clever feature” or “the backbone of the process.”💸

Our bake sale fundraiser is back for round two.🐾💙

Last week, we wanted to show that support often starts with small gestures, and those small gestures can become real help. That’s why we launched a bake sale fundraiser for Tappancs Tanya, a local animal shelter.🐱🐶

Our colleagues have baked some treats again, and in return everyone can donate as much as they’d like in the honesty box. We’ll donate the full amount collected to Tappancs Tanya.🍪

This is the second of three occasions, and we’ll be back soon with the final round.

AI Doesn’t Just Help Anymore. It Takes Over the Task.🤖

A lot of people still think of AI as a smart text generator: it writes an email, summarizes a meeting, or gives a few ideas for a post. That’s useful but it’s not the big shift.
The next level is when AI doesn’t just suggest, it acts. In other words, it doesn’t merely “give an answer” it carries a task through until the goal is achieved.

So what does this kind of (agentic) AI do in practice?
🔗Works across multiple systems (email, calendar, CRM, ticketing, Drive, spreadsheets),
🧠Breaks the job into steps (plans, prioritizes, identifies decision points),
⚙️Executes (sends emails, updates the CRM, closes tickets, pulls data, builds a report),
📊And reports back what happened, what it found, what the outcome was, and where it got stuck.

The key point: from here on, AI isn’t replacing a single “feature” it’s taking entire workflows off your plate.

Examples that are becoming increasingly realistic:
Support: “Resolve this ticket” → review history, draft an answer from the knowledge base, update status, log notes, close it.
Sales: “Prep me for this meeting” → gather company context, summarize the email thread, pull CRM context, suggest questions and next steps.
Operations: “Create the weekly report” → collect data from multiple sources, clean it, summarize results, suggest action items.

And this is a big deal because when you get a workflow “as a whole,” a new question pops up:
why am I paying for six separate tools if an AI can handle half or even three-quarters of the process using the systems I already have?
Of course, in reality this isn’t “human-free autopilot” everywhere. In many cases you still need controls: approvals, logging, permissions, security. But the direction is clear, AI is becoming less of an assistant and more of an “operator.”
