Artificial intelligence is no longer just a technological question — it is becoming one of the defining legal questions of our time.

🔹 algorithmic governance
🔹 digital rights and responsibility

💡 Most people think getting a legal job abroad is a CV problem.
❗ It’s not.
👉You don’t apply your way into a legal career abroad; you build toward it long before you ever submit an application.

Here are the 6 steps behind it:
1️⃣ 📚 Build a strong legal foundation in your home country
2️⃣ 🌍 Learn the business and legal language of your target market
3️⃣ 🔗 Create a real connection to that destination market early on
4️⃣ 🎓 Gain international exposure during your studies
5️⃣ 🏛️ Complete an internship at a recognized firm or institution
6️⃣ 🚀 Start applying for jobs abroad
Most people start at step 6 — and then wonder why it doesn’t work.
That’s because international legal careers are built backwards, not forwards.

We discussed this topic in a panel with Klemen Kreča and Bartosz Frydel, two lawyers from Central and Eastern Europe who have built successful international careers.
They shared their personal experiences and practical advice on what it really takes to move from the CEE region into Western European and global legal practice.

“There are no easy days for us – and there are no reserve players either.”

What does it really mean to run an international dispute resolution boutique in Central and Eastern Europe today? In our latest interview, we spoke with Dániel Dózsa and Petra Pataki, partners at Queritius, about
⚖️ why every lawyer in their team plays on the front line
🌍 how they built a truly regional practice
🤝 how contrasting personalities can become a strategic advantage
👩‍⚖️ and why diversity, trust, and honesty are not slogans—but business fundamentals

After years in Big Law and international legal hubs, they chose to build something different at home—proving that outstanding legal work only matters when it’s combined with trust, clarity, and human connection.

⚖️ Continuous learning isn’t just a nice-to-have in the legal profession. It’s a must. But how we learn makes all the difference.

We asked our community: 👉 Which type of legal training do you find most effective for career development?

Here’s what you told us:
🧑‍🏫 Workshops – 25%
💻 Online courses – 13%
🎤 Conferences – 0%
🤝 Mentorship – 63%

It’s no surprise that direct mentorship came out on top. Nothing compares to the guidance of someone who has already walked the path, who shares not only knowledge but also personal experiences, and who provides honest, tailored feedback.

But here’s the challenge: mentorship is also the rarest and hardest-to-access form of knowledge transfer. That’s why workshops and courses play such a critical role. Their true value lies in how much they can mirror the benefits of mentorship:

✨ an experienced instructor whose perspective we can trust,
✨ real stories and lessons from practice,
✨ space to ask questions and receive feedback.

When designed this way, structured trainings don’t just transfer information, they recreate the human connection that makes learning memorable and transformative.

💬 What about you? Who has been the most influential mentor in your career so far and what did you learn from them?

🌍 Why do lawyers choose to work abroad?

For many lawyers, the idea of an international career feels both exciting and intimidating. The promise of new opportunities, new cultures, and new ways of practicing law often sparks curiosity at some point in our careers. But what is the driving force behind such a big step?

We recently asked our community: 👉 What would motivate you the most to work abroad as a lawyer?

Here’s what you told us:
✨ Lifestyle change – 44%
🚀 Career growth – 31%
💰 Higher salary – 19%
⚖️ International cases – 6%

The results are telling. While financial security and professional development certainly matter, the number one reason is something more personal: the search for a different lifestyle. 🌐

And this connects to a broader change in the profession. Legal work is no longer confined to traditional offices and rigid schedules—online collaboration, remote opportunities, and cross-border projects are becoming part of everyday reality. In this context, work–life balance and personal fulfillment gain even greater importance. ⚖️💻

Today, building an international legal career isn’t only about prestige or pay. It’s also about designing a sustainable way of working and living.

💬 What about you? If you had the chance to move abroad tomorrow, what would tip the scale for you: career, money, or the promise of a new lifestyle?
