Designing colorful bugs has been my latest obsession. Yep, I spent 2 months creating tutorials and a method for it :D

In today’s tutorial, I’ll show you how to build this beetle-moth hybrid in Procreate by mixing different bug parts, adding colours, patterns and textures, and turning them into a finished illustration from start to finish.

Instead of guessing whether your pattern will repeat correctly, this method lets you see exactly what’s happening while you draw. You build your pattern one zone at a time, move the edges, and everything starts coming together naturally.

Andalusian Tiles Month was an absolute blast, and I already know it’s a theme I’ll be coming back to in the future.

Over on Patreon, I created 4 tutorials during the month (2 of them more like full classes, broken down into multiple chapters), and this was the final piece.

Inspired by the beautiful Nasrid geometry I saw in Granada, this project combines ornamental patterns, lettering, and all the little details that made me fall in love with Andalusian art and architecture in the first place.

Definitely not the last tile I’ll be making. 💙✨
