We started with our own work. Claude is now part of how our software engineering, infrastructure, operations and analytics teams work, mostly in application development and documentation. Our people hold Claude certifications, and we're building from here.
In more than 20 years of building business-critical applications and systems, we've learned to judge technology by how it holds up in real work. Claude is going through that test in our own teams first.
This is our first step in the programme, and we're already working towards the next one.

Java 27 is here, but the interesting question isn't simply what's new.

With Java moving on a six-month release cadence, development teams increasingly need to balance two things: keeping up with where the platform is heading and avoiding unnecessary disruption in day-to-day work.

Some changes are ready to use now. Others are still evolving. And the tooling around them matters just as much as the features themselves.

It's Friday, 11:23. You're about to leave for lunch when someone asks a simple question: how many active clients do we have?

You find three answers: 112,438, 98,214 and 104,907. All three are correct.

Each number answers a different question, and that's usually where the trouble starts – not in the data, but in the question. "How many active clients do we have?" has three possible answers. "How many clients were digitally active in the last 30 days?" has one, and you can explain how you got it.

Before you trust a figure, you need to know what it means, where it comes from, who is responsible for it and whether you're allowed to use it.

Platforms like Collibra make those answers visible by connecting business meaning with technical origin, ownership and rules of use. But a platform can only speed up a model an organisation has already agreed on. It can't invent one. There's no definition without experts, no accountability without owners and no maintenance without a process.

All of this comes from our latest internal session, led by Tatjana Bilić-Erić and Ivan Tokić with the support of their colleagues from our Collibra team. Neos has been a Collibra service partner since 2021.

It was also the first session in our new offices, which we now share with KONČAR Digital and Adnet. Now that we're under the same roof, it made sense to open the doors a little wider, and colleagues from both companies joined us.

A warehouse software company came to us this year wanting their AI to never leave the building.

Aktiva Info builds S24 WMS, a warehouse management platform used across logistics, distribution and manufacturing to track stock and run warehouse operations. They had already built an AI layer into it – the question was where it runs. Their clients' inventory and operational data couldn't go anywhere near a public cloud, so the whole thing had to move on-premise. Instead of renting compute, they bought it – an NVIDIA DGX Spark. We sourced it and offered some advice; the implementation was entirely their own.

Built around the GB10 Grace Blackwell superchip, with 128 GB of unified memory, the DGX Spark can run AI models with up to 200 billion parameters and fine-tune models up to 70 billion, directly on a desktop, no data centre involved.

For Aktiva Info, the plan is to build the AI feature locally and offer it across their client base, with everything running on infrastructure they control.

It's the kind of project we like: a real technical constraint, and hardware that solves it properly. What happens when the intelligence inside an IDE is no longer tied to the IDE?

JetBrains has made IntelliJ IDEA’s Java and Kotlin intelligence available through LSP, starting with VS Code and Cursor.

But the editor extension may not be the most interesting part.

The same kind of structured code understanding could also change how AI agents navigate, analyse and work with complex codebases.

This June marks ten years of EuroNKS, FINA's payment system for SEPA credit transfers and direct debits in euros. It went live on 6 June 2016, as part of Croatia's national migration to the European SEPA scheme.

Ten years is a long time for any system to run without most people noticing it's there. EuroNKS settles transactions on a net multilateral basis, clearing through the Croatian component of the TARGET system and connecting Croatian banks to the rest of the SEPA area – quietly, every working day, for a decade.

Behind that decade are people. Stjepko Katulić, Josip Mihaljević and Filip Filipčić from our Software Engineering team have been part of the EuroNKS development and maintenance, working in partnership with TIS GRUPA.

What was once new infrastructure for Croatia's payment landscape is now operational reality for every commercial bank in the country. Ten years on, that's worth marking – and worth thanking the people who kept it running.
