🎙️ This Morning on Madison & Martina...

Something happened to Madison that completely caught him off guard.

A sixth-generation Bay Islander looked at him and said...

"You're an Islander."

Madison's first reaction?

"What? Me? I'm honored... but I've always felt like an outsider who's just lucky enough to live here."

That's when the conversation took a turn.

The Islander explained that being an Islander isn't just about where you were born.

It's about how you treat people.

How you care about the community.

How you show up.

How you contribute.

How you embrace the island instead of just living on it.

It turned into one of those conversations that stays with you.

So we want to ask...

Island Time.
Is it real?
Yes.
Absolutely.
One hundred percent.
Some things on Roatan happen right on schedule...
Like **scheduled power outages**.
For example, tomorrow morning at **9:00 AM**, RECO says the power is going out, and you can bet your refrigerator will believe them.
But other things?
Well...
Those happen on **Island Time**.
Dinner at 7 might mean 7:30.
A meeting at 10 might mean "after coffee."
And "I'll be there in five minutes" is less of a promise and more of a tropical weather pattern.

🎙️ This Morning on Madison & Martina... Well... The U.S. got knocked out of the World Cup by Belgium.

We'd like to say it was closer than the score suggests...
..but the scoreboard has trust issues.

⚽

Which led Madison to ask a perfectly reasonable question...

Do soccer teams ever accidentally score too many goals?

Because sometimes it feels like everyone is playing not to score.

There was more scoring at the Chess Tournament at Duna Tower.

(Okay... maybe not. But it felt like it.)

Don't get us wrong—we love the World Cup.

We just don't always understand how 90 minutes, extra time, and millions of dollars in talent can end with everyone celebrating a 1–0 game like it was a fireworks show.

Meanwhile, if Madison were coaching...

His strategy would simply be:

"Kick it toward the pointy white thing with the net."

Martina says there's probably a little more to it than that.

🎙️ This Morning on Madison & Martina... Madison has a confession... Back in high school... He actually ran Cross Country.

Then one day he discovered something important.

The human body was clearly designed to sit on a couch...
..eat Cheetos...
..and wonder where the TV remote went.

Running?

That's hard.

But you know what's even harder?

Having enough willpower to not sit on the couch eating Cheetos.

That's the real workout.

So why do millions of people voluntarily wake up early... put on uncomfortable shoes... and run for fun?

We honestly don't know.

But we do know there are a couple of great charity runs coming up on Roatan, including the 21K Roatán – La Carrera del Arrecife and the Cheers for Charity 5K, both supporting fitness and good causes on the island.

And finally...

Can we all agree on one thing?

Please discourage Martina from becoming a runner.

We're pretty sure she'd only run if someone was chasing her...
..or if there was a coffee shop at the finish line.

🎙️ This Morning on Madison & Martina... Get your beach chairs ready... Because some seriously good volleyball is coming to Roatan! 🏐🌴

The Bay Islands Volleyball League () is helping bring the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour to the island, with international-level competition happening this week. The event is being promoted at Isla Tropicale (the new name for Mahogany Bay), and there will also be action happening on the sand at Tabayana Beach in West Bay.

Translation...

You have absolutely no excuse.

Get your asses to the beach.

This is the kind of event where you can sit with your toes in the sand, watch incredible athletes compete, and pretend you came for the "sports" when we all know you came for the beach. 😎

And then Madison asks the question nobody else was brave enough to ask...

If there's a Cayos Cochinos...

Does that mean somewhere nearby there's a "My Hog and Me Bay?"

🤦‍♂️

This is exactly why we can't take Madison out in public.

🎙️ This Morning on Madison & Martina... Living on a tropical island does something strange to your brain...

You start forgetting what day it is.

Monday?

Thursday?

Somewhere between "is there coffee?" and "what time is sunset?" it all becomes a little blurry.

And yes...

Madison completely forgot what day it was.

Which, according to Martina, is not exactly a shocking development.

😂

But one thing he did NOT forget...

Tonight he's hosting the Abundant Life Foundation Benefit at Kimpton Grand Roatan.

And despite what some people think...

There is actually work involved.

There is preparation.

There are details.

There are things to think about.

And that's where Madison runs into his biggest challenge...

Thinking.

A difficult task.

A dangerous activity.

One that requires coffee and possibly adult supervision.

Join us as Madison prepares for a big night supporting a great cause, while Martina questions whether he can remember the schedule long enough to make it there on time.

🎙️ This Morning on Madison & Martina... Today's question... 🏝️ What makes the "perfect" tourist?

Is it the cruise ship visitor who spends a few hours exploring the island?

The diver who comes for a week and can't stop talking about Roatan?

Or the couple who planned to stay five days... and somehow they're still here three weeks later?

Studies have shown that different types of visitors contribute very different amounts to the local economy. A cruise passenger might spend around $60 during a visit, while a dive tourist staying on the island can spend well over $2,000 by the time you add accommodations, restaurants, diving, taxis, shopping, and entertainment.

Now before anyone gets upset...

We love our cruise visitors.

They support thousands of jobs and introduce people from all over the world to Roatan.

But here's the dream...

What if we could convince more of those cruise passengers to come back... not for six hours... but for six days?

Or even six weeks?

That's when the magic happens.

Today we're talking about why Roatan's biggest tourism opportunity may already be stepping off the ship every morning.
