Supporting the Next Generation of Amateur Radio Operators: Talkpod Sponsors AFU Chris Giveaway

At Talkpod, we believe that the future of amateur radio depends on inspiring and supporting the next generation of operators. Through our Youth HAM Radio Program, we are committed to helping young people discover the excitement of radio communications, emergency preparedness, technical learning, and community service.

Recently, we had the pleasure of partnering with German amateur radio content creator AFU Chris, who organized a special giveaway featuring eight Talkpod A36 Plus MAX handheld radios. The event was designed to encourage participation within the amateur radio community and help place quality equipment into the hands of operators who can benefit from it most.

AFU Chris shared the giveaway with his audience through a dedicated video, inviting viewers to participate and explain why they or someone they know deserves to receive one of the radios. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, demonstrating the passion and enthusiasm that continues to make amateur radio such a unique hobby.

The Talkpod A36 Plus MAX is designed to be an accessible and feature-rich handheld radio, making it an excellent choice for both experienced operators and newcomers entering the hobby. By placing these radios into the hands of active community members, we hope to encourage more learning, experimentation, and on-air activity.

This giveaway reflects the mission of the Talkpod Youth HAM Radio Program: supporting education, promoting technical skills, and helping build stronger amateur radio communities around the world. Whether through youth clubs, schools, scouting organizations, radio associations, or community events, we are proud to contribute resources that help newcomers take their first steps into amateur radio.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to AFU Chris for his support and dedication to the amateur radio community. Partnerships like these help introduce more people to the hobby and create opportunities for future operators to get involved.

The future of amateur radio is bright, and together we can continue to inspire the next generation of radio enthusiasts.

The Talkpod Team

Talkpod Supports the Cochise Amateur Radio Association Hamfest 2026 Communications Exercise
At Talkpod, we believe amateur radio is more than a hobby. It is a community built on curiosity, preparedness, technical learning, and the willingness to stay connected when communication matters most.

That is why we were honored to support the Cochise Amateur Radio Association (CARA) Hamfest 2026 Communications Exercise with Talkpod radio equipment for the event.

The photo shared with us from the event captures exactly why we value these opportunities. A young attendee proudly holds a Talkpod radio kit, representing the next generation of radio users, learners, and community communicators. For us, moments like this are the real meaning behind supporting hamfests and local radio clubs.

Supporting Youth and Community Radio

Hamfests are not only places to buy, sell, and exchange radio gear. They are also where knowledge is passed on, friendships are built, and newcomers discover the excitement of radio communication.

By contributing Talkpod radios to events like the CARA Hamfest, we hope to encourage more young people and new operators to explore amateur radio, emergency communication, and hands-on learning. Whether used for club activities, communications exercises, or simply as a first step into the world of radio, every radio has the potential to spark a lasting interest.

Preparedness Through Communication

The Communications Exercise element of the event also reflects one of the most important roles of radio: reliable communication when it matters.

Amateur radio operators continue to play an essential role in emergency preparedness, public service events, and community response. Supporting organizations like CARA allows Talkpod to contribute in a small but meaningful way to that mission.

Thank You, CARA

We would like to sincerely thank the Cochise Amateur Radio Association for organizing the Hamfest 2026 Communications Exercise and for sharing this wonderful photo with us.

Seeing Talkpod radios in the hands of young participants reminds us why we continue to support amateur radio clubs, youth programs, and hamfest communities across the country.

Talkpod is proud to stand with radio clubs that keep the spirit of communication alive — one event, one operator, and one new generation at a time.

How One 12-Year-Old New Ham Reminds Us Why Amateur Radio Matters

At Talkpod LTD., we believe the future of ham radio lies in inspiring and supporting the next generation of operators. Recently, we were delighted to receive a story from our friends at the SSIERRA Nevada Radio Society (SNARS) that perfectly reflects the spirit of the amateur radio community.

During a recent amateur radio licensing exam session, the SNARS volunteer team successfully helped eight candidates pass their exams, earning either a Technician License or upgrading their existing amateur radio licenses.

One of the most inspiring moments from the session involved a 12-year-old candidate who had been studying hard for his Technician Class license. After passing the exam, he was both relieved and excited. The celebration became even more memorable when Doug (W7DBE) and Krystal Nelson (N6KDN) presented him with a Talkpod radio that had been specially programmed for him.

Even more inspiring was the young operator’s next plan: he hopes to teach his family about amateur radio so they can earn their own ham radio licenses. Stories like this remind us how powerful youth engagement in ham radio can be—bringing technology, learning, and family together.

Volunteers Strengthening the Amateur Radio Community

Behind every successful ham radio licensing exam is a dedicated team of volunteers. The SNARS team shared that transitioning from traditional paper exams to digital testing on devices has been a learning experience, but one that is proving to be more efficient for both examiners and candidates.

This successful session was made possible thanks to the support and generosity of several community members:

SNARS, for donating refurbished Chromebooks used during the exam session

Bob (KA6NSN), who supports the technical side of the testing system

Jim (W6US), who kindly loaned reading glasses to a candidate who had forgotten his, ensuring he could complete his exam

These acts of kindness and cooperation highlight what makes the amateur radio community so special—people helping each other succeed.

Why Youth Ham Radio Matters

At Talkpod, we are passionate about supporting initiatives that encourage young people to discover amateur radio. Receiving a first radio after passing a licensing exam is often the start of a lifelong journey in communication technology, experimentation, and community engagement.

When a young operator earns their Technician License, they gain access to a global community of radio operators who share knowledge, curiosity, and a spirit of public service.

Moments like this reinforce why we continue to support ham radio clubs, youth programs, and licensing activities around the world.

Thank You to the SNARS Team

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Krystal Nelson and the entire SNARS team for sharing this wonderful story with us and for their dedication to mentoring new operators.

Every new ham radio operator represents another step forward for the global amateur radio community. We are proud to see Talkpod equipment helping new licensees begin their journey on the air.

Talkpod looks forward to continuing to support ham radio education, youth amateur radio programs, and community-driven radio events in the years ahead.

Talkpod N39P at Flea at RPI: A Celebration of Community and Innovation

The recent Flea at RPI, hosted by the W2SZ Amateur Radio Club, College HAM club, brought together a vibrant mix of radio enthusiasts, students, and innovators. From classic gear to modern solutions, the event showcased the enduring spirit of amateur radio.

We were proud to see the Talkpod N39P featured at the event. With its virtual channel system and push-to-talk over cellular capability, the N39P sparked conversations about how radio can evolve while staying true to its roots.

Most importantly, it was inspiring to witness people connecting—sharing knowledge, exploring new technologies, and welcoming the next generation into the hobby.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the W2SZ Amateur Radio Club for organizing such a meaningful event and for giving us the opportunity to be part of this incredible community moment.

At Talkpod, we believe radio is about connection—and events like this remind us why it matters.

Talkpod at CFARC Hamfest 2026: Inspiring the Next Generation

The Cuyahoga Falls ARC (CFARC) Hamfest, held on April 11th, 2026, once again brought together a vibrant community of radio enthusiasts—with attendance exceeding 600 participants.

We were honored to support this year’s event through a donation of Talkpod radios. To encourage youth participation, the organizers opened the Talkpod prize draw to attendees under 25 years old. The result was truly inspiring: six young winners—three boys and three girls—walked away with Talkpod radios, some already licensed operators, others just beginning their journey.

🎉 Talkpod Winners at CFARC Hamfest:
Christen Cole
Alex Annichine (KE8YBX)
Addyson McKinney
Kennedy Lucas
Nathan Killion
Chris Chapman (AC8NN)

In a heartwarming moment, one winner brought along her twin sister—who was also invited to take home a special prize, adding an extra touch of joy to the day.

More than just a giveaway, this was a celebration of community, curiosity, and the future of amateur radio. Seeing the smiles of these young participants reminded us why supporting events like CFARC Hamfest matters.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Cuyahoga Falls ARC for organizing such a successful event and for giving Talkpod the opportunity to contribute.

At Talkpod, we believe the future of radio starts with moments like these.

Talkpod at Warren County Radio Club Swapfest | Ham Radio Door Prize Highlights

At Talkpod LTD., we believe that the strength of the ham radio community lies in its people—passionate operators, dedicated clubs, and the countless moments where connections are made both on and off the air.

Recently, we were proud to support the Warren County Radio Club Swapfest, where Talkpod radios were featured as door prizes, bringing excitement and energy to one of the most anticipated gatherings for amateur radio enthusiasts.A Celebration of Community and Connection

Swapfests have long been a cornerstone of the amateur radio world—a place where operators come together to exchange equipment, share knowledge, and strengthen friendships across generations.

At this year’s event, the atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as attendees gathered not only to explore gear, but also to celebrate the shared spirit of ham radio innovation and community building.

Seeing Talkpod products included as part of the door prize giveaways added a special highlight to the day. The smiles and excitement from participants receiving their radios were a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

More Than a Prize — The Start of a Journey

For many attendees, especially newer operators, receiving a radio is more than just winning a prize—it’s the beginning of a deeper journey into the world of amateur radio communication.

Whether it’s their first handheld device or an addition to their existing setup, each Talkpod radio represents:

A new opportunity to connect
A tool for learning and experimentation
A gateway into the broader ham radio community

Moments like these reflect the true impact of community-driven events like the Warren County Radio Club Swapfest.

Grateful for the Opportunity

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Warren County Radio Club for including Talkpod in this meaningful event and for sharing these wonderful moments with us.

Events like this are made possible by the dedication of volunteers and organizers who continue to foster growth within the amateur radio ecosystem.

Looking Ahead

At Talkpod, we remain committed to supporting hamfests, swap meets, youth programs, and amateur radio clubs around the world.

We look forward to continuing our mission of empowering operators—both new and experienced—with reliable communication tools, while strengthening the global network that makes ham radio so unique.

We just received a wonderful message from Uskside Amateur Radio Club — and we’re so happy to share it! 💌

Recently, the club joined a local charity quiz night to raise funds for a dog rescue organization 🐶💖.
During the event, they proudly presented two newly licensed foundation members with brand-new Talkpod A36Plus MAX radios — our small way of welcoming them into the world of amateur radio! 🎉📻

A special shout-out to Scott (GW7SAB) and his wife Hayley, who do an amazing job fostering dogs waiting for new homes. Their kindness and dedication truly make a difference. 🏠🐕

Uskside ARC is also planning to work with the local Scouts to help young people earn their foundation licences — and yes, they’ll be presented with Talkpod radios too once they pass! 🌍✨

We’re deeply inspired by Uskside ARC’s community spirit — combining radio, charity, and compassion into something truly special. ❤️
