Power-nap Over - PNO

Power-nap Over - PNO Design studio from HK, now located in the UK Power-Nap Over is a Hong Kong based design studio founded in 2013.

Founder Vita Mak, Hong Kong born and raised, completed his Bachelor of Graphic Design at RMIT University (Melbourne) in 2009. Vita believes that design can be a tool of social change or at the very least a means to influence people’s thought towards living. “Power-nap Over” is a description of a designers’ typical life, a reminder for designers, how we need it to revitalize our mind in between cr

azy days. Meanwhile, it is a reminder for us to following our own pace but not simply do whatever other people is doing. The idea grows into an implication of never get too complacent, never stop pursuing for better result. “Taking a short break is only for begin again. Don’t let the pause lasts too long at all time.”

We specialize in Art Direction, Branding & Identity, Signage, Event Design, Editorial, Packaging and Website design. 2015 is the year we initiated PNO stationery and published our first zine in effort to realize our vision towards design and living mentality. We stay true to the quote from NITYA: “While our body mutate into a water glass, we let proper living pour in bit by bit.”

PNO’s vision is to introduce timeless product and influential lifestyle to every individual we work with. We cherishes the opportunity to work with ingenious small-scale association and communities, all because our team desires to create innovative, exceptional design. We work as a modest team, but we care to deliver consequential design content. Nevertheless our aspiration is to expand our team in a moderate extent, still, keeping up our passionated, affirmed aesthetic.

Have you noticed something new at recently?

The cups have quietly changed.

Their surface now carries a pattern drawn from the idea of variables coming together: roast and brew, temperature and time, grind and pressure, hands and judgement.

Small shifts. Careful decisions. Repeated until they become craft.

A cup is never just a cup.
It is part of how the coffee is held, seen, and remembered.
For Craft Coffee Roaster, this new pattern continues the language of craftsmanship — subtle, layered, and always in motion.

Somewhere along the way, Power-nap Over stopped feeling like the whole story. I realised I didn’t want to keep feeding that old script of what the “design scene” should look like.

These days my feelings about design – and life – are changing. I see things on a longer timeline. I care more about how work stays in the world, and less about adding one more piece of noise we all scroll past and forget.

That’s why PNO is slowly shifting to a new meaning for me.

Present · Notice · Observe.
Present & Ongoing.

It’s still PNO.
It’s also PNO, and a little bit P & O.

As part of refreshed visual identity, we developed a pattern from two sets of lines, each formed by parallel strokes that curve in their own way. You may have already noticed it on the inner surface of the coffee bean box – and it will slowly appear in more corners of the identity.

The two line sets echo the variables of coffee making – roasting and brewing, temperature and time, grind size and pressure, and so on.

The pattern is highly sensitive: even a tiny shift in angle or spacing creates a different field. That responsiveness is the essence of Craft – small adjustments, big difference in the cup, now made visible.

The 10th marks another milestone for the festival and the community that continues to shape Hong Kong’s coffee culture.

This year’s key visual revisits the essence of previous editions — both conceptually and visually. It consolidates the evolving energy of the event into a more vibrant and celebratory form. The palette expands with brighter tones, reflecting the collective craft, connection, and creativity of the coffee community.

“From folded lines to layered textures — and now, to a language that moves with you.”

Craft Coffee Roaster’s identity began with a structured “C”, formed by fabric-like lines — a quiet nod to the discipline behind great roasting.

Over time, as the brand deepened its offerings, the system evolved — not dramatically, but deliberately.

We refined the lines. We added depth.
And we introduced two new layers that speak to both clarity and care:

Colour — not just decoration, but a tool.
Each label now carries a hue linked to Craft’s flavour map — allowing drinkers to intuitively spot shared profiles, or branch into new territory.

Gradient — a subtle background shift that reminds us:
Craftsmanship isn’t one fixed formula. It flexes. It flows.

And in those soft transitions, you feel the ease, the balance — the quiet confidence of something made well.

This identity doesn’t just describe coffee.
It mirrors how good coffee feels.
