A few days ago, a video reminded us that how we treat people matters more than anything else we do.

An elderly customer came to one of our stores looking for help. He didn’t receive the kindness and patience he deserved. That was unacceptable and we owned it.

Our CEO Deonarine Gopaul visited him at home personally, our fibre team got him fully connected and we made sure that from this day forward, he has everything he needs to stay connected to the world and the people he loves.

Because our customers aren’t just numbers, they’re our neighbours, our grandparents, our community.

We don’t always get it right, but when we fall short, we get up and we do better.

To every Guyanese who spoke up, thank you. You reminded us of the standard we must always hold ourselves to.

A Statement from Digicel Guyana

At Digicel, our customers are at the heart of everything we do and that commitment extends to every single person who walks through our doors, regardless of their age or level of technical familiarity.

It has been brought to our attention that a video circulating on social media shows two members of our staff behaving in a manner that is completely unacceptable and wholly inconsistent with the values we uphold as a company.

Every customer deserves to be treated with dignity, patience, and genuine care. That this gentleman came to us for help and was instead met with ridicule, is something we take very seriously and do not take lightly.

The two employees involved in this incident were dismissed from the company effective this morning.

We are also reaching out directly to the customer and his family to offer our sincerest apology. He will receive our full support and personal attention to ensure his concerns are addressed properly and with the respect he deserves.

To our wider customer family and the Guyanese public, we hear you, and we thank you for holding us accountable. We recommit ourselves to being a company where every customer feels welcomed, valued, and well-served.
