🚀 SmartEye Firmware 1.4.0 is here!

This update brings auto-focusing, a refreshed web experience, and several usability improvements for smoother observing.

✨ Highlights:
* Fine Auto Focus – SmartEye can now focus automatically using a connected Alpaca motor focuser. It samples star sharpness across the focus range, moves to the best position and verifies the result. Press the Astro Crown to cancel at any time.

* Alpaca Focuser Support – Works with ASCOM Alpaca–compatible focusers, such as the Pegasus Astro FocusCube 3.

* Stacking Progress Overlay – Live stacking progress is now shown on the display if desired.

* System Update Progress – The update screen now shows the progress of a system update. Available from the next update after installing 1.4.x.

* Dark Frames Saved With Images – Dark frames are now exported to the image folder, so each set of raw images always has the correct darks.

* Redesigned Web Dashboard – Refreshed interface with a modern, streamlined look.

* Connectivity Tutorial in Dashboard – Step-by-step guide to help you connect and configure your SmartEye.

Our customer Jean-marc Lecleire captured this stunning image in autumn 2025 using the Pegasus Astro SmartEye, a 500 mm telescope at the Saint-Véran Observatory, and a dual-band OIII/SII filter — with approximately 1.5 hours of total exposure time.

Using BlurXTerminator by RC-Astro in post-processing, they were able to bring out an astonishing amount of detail in this fascinating deep-sky object.

The PegasusAstro Orbit is our new modular 1.25” rotating diagonal, specifically designed for optical systems with extremely limited backfocus, such as the SmartEye unit.
It features dual-axis rotation, allowing for ergonomic viewing regardless of your telescope’s orientation.
SmartEye in basic edition of diagonal can be attached directly by using the provided (in box) M54M to M48M. The 1.25 filter thread and short backfocus allow you to use smaller filters with SmartEye without vigneting.
