Understanding the Difference: Website, Web App, and Mobile App
In today’s digital world, many people use these terms interchangeably, but they actually mean different things. Knowing the difference can help individuals, businesses, and organizations choose the right digital solution.
1️⃣ Website
A website is a collection of web pages that people access through a browser using the internet. Websites are mainly designed to provide information such as company profiles, services, blogs, news, or educational content. Users do not need to install anything to access a website; they simply visit a web address (URL).
2️⃣ Web Application (Web App)
A web app is a more interactive type of website that allows users to perform specific tasks online. Users can log in, create content, edit information, and interact with data. Examples include online email platforms, learning management systems, and cloud-based office tools.
3️⃣ Mobile Application (Mobile App)
A mobile app is software specifically designed for smartphones and tablets. Unlike websites and web apps, mobile apps must be downloaded and installed from an app store. They are optimized for mobile devices and can access phone features such as the camera, GPS, and notifications.
