*What is Social Engineering?*

Hacking is basically exploiting vulnerabilities in a system or business procedure, social engineering is exploiting vulnerabilities in human nature.

It consists of different types of manipulation and cons that lead to acquiring private information from an individual or organization.

The victims of social engineering give out sensitive data willingly and happily only to realise the consequences of the act later. The best social engineering is however never discovered.

In Ghana we have heard a lot of mobile money scams and deals that never even existed.

In computer hacking a social engineer can manipulate his victim into clicking a malicious website's link, install a backdoor, open a backdoored attachment, turn of antivirus or firewall which open his defensive protocols for the attacker.
