It was a pleasure to spend time this week across the UK holding positive discussions with leading UK agricultural machinery manufacturers, including representatives from John Deere, about workforce development and the future of technical skills within the agricultural engineering sector.

As modern agricultural equipment continues to evolve with advanced electronics, CANBUS networks, sensors, GPS guidance systems, automated controls and increasingly complex electrical architectures, the need for highly skilled technicians has never been greater.

Looking ahead, the industry is also moving steadily towards electrification. From hybrid powertrains and high-voltage systems to fully electric tractors, loaders and autonomous machinery, tomorrow’s agricultural engineers will require an even deeper understanding of electrical interconnections, cable harness reliability and system integrity. Ensuring apprentices and field technicians develop these skills today will help prepare them for the next generation of sustainable agricultural technology.

At Impact Centre for Training, we believe IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification can play a valuable role in supporting both apprentices and experienced field technicians by providing internationally recognised best practices for cable and wire harness assembly, inspection and repair.

Key benefits of IPC/WHMA-A-620 training include:

✅ Improved understanding of cable and harness workmanship standards

✅ Enhanced fault-finding and diagnostic capability

✅ Greater consistency in repairs carried out in the field

✅ Reduced risk of wiring-related failures and machine downtime

✅ Improved reliability of electrical systems operating in harsh agricultural environments

✅ Better understanding of high-voltage cable management and electrical safety principles that will become increasingly important as electrified machinery enters mainstream agricultural use

✅ Increased confidence when inspecting, repairing and maintaining complex machine harnesses

✅ Development of transferable skills applicable across agricultural, automotive, defence, renewable energy and industrial sectors

Today’s agricultural machinery may already contain several kilometres of wiring and hundreds of electrical connections. As electrification, automation and autonomous operation continue to advance, robust cable harness design, assembly, inspection and maintenance will become even more critical to machine performance, safety and reliability.

We look forward to continuing these discussions and supporting the next generation of agricultural engineers as the sector embraces smarter, cleaner and increasingly electrified technologies.

This week we’re delivering IPC 7711/7721 CIS from the Global Electronics Association in Hyvinkää 🇫🇮

A town built on industry — where craftsmanship, precision and discipline have always mattered.

The Welders sculpture was donated by KONE, a company proudly based in Hyvinkää. It’s a reminder that world-class industry is built on skilled hands and controlled processes.

This week we’re working with NOTE, delivering structured IPC rework and repair training and strengthening technical capability where it counts.

Rework isn’t about “fixing faults.”
It’s about restoring integrity to recognised IPC standards.

Industry was built on skill.
The future depends on it.

⸻

Kyse on rakenteellisen eheyden palauttamisesta IPC-standardien mukaisesti.

Teollisuus rakennettiin osaamisella.
Tulevaisuus riippuu siitä.

Training builds competence.
Quality protects reputation.
Together, they protect your business.

At Impact Centre for Training, we don’t deliver generic courses — we develop capability.

In high-reliability industries such as defence, aerospace, medical, rail, marine and renewable energy, compliance is only the starting point. What truly matters is consistency at the workstation.

Effective training delivers:

• Reduced rework and scrap
• Stronger process control and repeatability
• Improved audit confidence
• Clear understanding of workmanship standards
• Greater accountability across production teams
• Measurable risk reduction in Class 2 and Class 3 assemblies

Quality is not inspected into a product.
It is built into it — by trained, competent people.

Whether delivered at our facilities in South Wales or Finland, or via live instructor-led online sessions, our focus remains the same:

Technical depth.
Industry relevance.
Practical application.

Because certification alone doesn’t create quality.
Understanding does.

If you’re looking to strengthen your production standards, improve reliability, or align teams across multiple sites — let’s have a conversation.
