💻🔋 Does leaving your laptop plugged in ruin the battery?

The short answer? Not really! 👀

Modern laptops are designed to stop charging once the battery reaches full capacity, so leaving it plugged in won’t “overcharge” it.

BUT… keeping your laptop at 100% charge and running hot all the time can cause the battery to degrade faster over the long term.

👉 For better battery health:
• Keep your laptop cool 🌬️
• Avoid constantly running it at 100%
• Use battery health/charge limit settings if your laptop has them
• Give the battery a little use now and again 🔋

And if your laptop is dying after 20 minutes off the charger… it might be time for a battery check! 😅

Got a laptop battery that’s not lasting like it used to? Give us a shout! 💻🔧

The number one thing to worry about when throwing away an old computer or device is the data that could be stored and the potential for someone to gain access to it. You can trust us to make sure that doesnt happen.

Here is the inside of a traditional hard drive (HDD) which use moving parts, and a solid state hard drive (SSD) which don't!

It makes you appreciate the physical difference and see why putting an SSD inside of an older or slower computer can immediately speed it up.

We can fit an SSD for you, and retain all of your data. Get in touch to discuss what options are best for your upgrade needs.
