When cash is tight, the last thing any manufacturer needs is a supplier who delivers late, delivers incorrectly, or delivers something that needs reworking before it can be used.

Every one of those outcomes ties up working capital that was already under pressure - and the cost compounds quickly when it happens more than once.

A reliable supply partner who delivers to specification first time isn't just an operational benefit at that point, it's a financial one.

Ever got to the prototype stage of a project and found a wiring issue that would have been far easier to fix weeks earlier?

A lot of the delays, redesigns and unexpected costs we see don't start in production. They start much earlier, at the drawing and specification stage.

Our latest blog looks at how early design review, prototype builds and manufacturability feedback help OEM teams identify potential issues sooner and move into production with greater confidence.

πŸ‘‡ If you're planning a new project, reviewing an existing design, or looking to make the transition from prototype to production as smooth as possible - this one’s for you.

In defence applications, a wiring harness has to perform in some of the toughest operating environments.

Vibration, temperature extremes, moisture and strict quality requirements all influence how a harness should be designed, manufactured and tested.

Our latest guide explores what OEM buyers should look for when choosing a defence wiring harness manufacturing partner.

If it's doing its job, a good wiring harness doesn't usually attract much attention.

It simply does what it's designed to do. It fits correctly, performs reliably and supports the vehicle year after year.

But getting to that point involves far more than assembling cables and connectors. Behind every harness sits a series of decisions around design support, testing, traceability, production planning and long-term manufacturability.

Our latest guide looks behind the scenes at automotive wiring harness manufacturing, from early design support through to repeat production supply.

πŸ‘‡ Worth a read for engineering, procurement and operations teams involved in vehicle development.

Ask anyone who has spent time fault-finding a wiring problem and the crimped termination will be near the top of their list of usual suspects.

A crimp that looks fine to the eye can still be wrong - over-crimped and cutting into the strands, under-crimped and loose, or made with the wrong tool for the terminal.

Any of those will pass a quick visual check and then fail weeks or months later, usually somewhere inconvenient.

At Tec-Stop, terminations are made with the correct tooling for each terminal and to a consistent workmanship standard, then checked as part of the build rather than taken on trust.

It's an unglamorous detail, and it decides how reliable the finished assembly turns out to be.

Have a chat with us about your next build. Send over the drawings, or just tell us what it needs to do, and we'll talk you through how we'd wire it, what we'd terminate it with, and where the checks sit in the process.

Six months after a machine is installed, the person maintaining it is not often the person who built it - and an unlabelled loom turns a five-minute fix into an afternoon of frustration tracing cables to figure out what belongs to where.

Clear, durable identification is one of the cheapest things to get right at the build stage and one of the most expensive to retrofit later.

It shortens fault-finding, reduces the risk of a wrong connection during a repair, and makes the whole assembly easier to live with over its working life.

At Tec-Stop, we mark and label assemblies to your requirements - core identification, cable markers, and printed sleeving that stays legible in service rather than fading or falling off within a year.

Send us a drawing and we'll show you how we'd mark it up.

When a cable assembly is heading somewhere wet, dusty, or constantly moving, the connection at the end of the cable is usually the first thing to fail.

A standard termination can be perfectly well made and still let moisture track in or work loose under repeated flexing.

Heavy-duty heatshrink sealing and specialised conduit terminations solve that by completely encapsulating the junction in a sealed, strain-relieved layer built to survive the environment it is going into.

Tec-Stop, we produce robust cable assemblies tailored directly to your application.

We match the protective sleeving, environmental sealing, and strain relief to the exact conditions the assembly will face in service, then test each one before it leaves us.

If you have got an assembly that needs to hold up in a demanding environment, get in touch.

That figure is striking, but not surprising to anyone who has watched a delayed component hold up an entire production run.

The cost isn't just the part itself - it's the knock-on effect through scheduling, labour, delivery commitments, and customer confidence.

Once a disruption reaches your production line, it rarely stays contained to just one area of the business.

Shortening and simplifying the supply chain wherever possible is one of the most practical steps a manufacturer can take to reduce that exposure.

Every assembly we build leaves the workshop tested, and there's a reason we don't treat that as optional.

A wiring harness or cable assembly can look completely correct and still carry a fault you can't see - a marginal crimp, a transposed core, a break in continuity that only shows up under load. The only way to know is to test it, and the only way to prove it later is to record the result.

Everything we build is tested against the specification, with full traceability from the materials used through to the test results for each build. If a question ever comes up further down the line, the answer is documented rather than assumed.

If traceable, tested assemblies matter for your product, chat to us about how we work.
